Seeing the pictures, it is still not the same. Both eBay Panthers have hexagonal crown and yours isn't; the dial also has the word Cartier whereas yours has not. I have already stated my view on it so I am going to stop after the next sentence. Tell your dad, it is not worth $13,000 and go and get it refunded immediately and even if it is real, you are paying a serious premium over an original Panther on eBay (even if eBay is not a 100% proof place).

Congrats to your mum! It is very blingy and the strap looks somewhat like one of my mum's Cartier watches. If your mum is happy and your dad and you are happy that she is happy, I guess it makes a happy transaction (even though the brand has not been detemined yet).

I would insist that the jeweler polish the band a bit. Even if it's vintage, it can still gleam like new. That's the nice thing about a gold watch, you can have it polished to perfection! I hope your mom loves it, and that you got a fair deal.

I agree. Bee...Bee has great points. I think your mom's watch was made to imitiate a Cartier, but is not a Cartier. As a result of the value of the watch is significantly diminished. And my watch does have the Cartier engravings on the back.

i'll take it into consideration and tell my father but I do belive the value dosent decrece simply because of a brand, plus we dont plan on selling the watch so the value plays no significant role in this case. Thanks everyone for all your help I will reread all the paperwork for the watch asap.

What they're saying is you need to make sure you paid $13,000 for a $13,000 watch. No one is talking about resale value. I think people are concerned that you may have paid $13,000 for a watch that is worth far less. Does that make sense?
