I got the size/color from MJ's official site, the entire collection is not listed at all times. I can't remember exactly where (either Nordstrom/NM/Barneys), but I saw the Large Bowler in Black Patent I think. I held both Bowlers and the smaller one was right for me since I'm 5'. She was carrying the Large.

If I have to choose between Bowler and Elise, I would pick Elise (more sophiscated?). Bowler is nice as well (more casual), it depends on you. If you have a chance, check them out in person.

The regular quilted black leather is nice--but it looks a little "dull" to me--but that could also be since I'm completely distracted by patent things right now :p It seems nice and squishy--but I think it's softer than his normal leather--so I'd be concerned about scratches... I enjoy sharing info--hope it helps! The cream patent is very attractive....

Well I did it! I called the Nordstrom you recommended and they found the regular black quilted leather Ursula tote for me. I promptly ordered it and had the SA ship it for two day delivery for free. She was very pleasant. Her name was Monica.
But I also called Barney's and they are holding a black patent leather for me which I am about to go take a look at. I'll let you know; maybe I'll buy both. Just kidding.

Congrats! Glad you were able to find it in the regular black quilted leather. You'll have to update us on what you decide to keep!

As of 3/22 lunch hour, Nordstrom (Irvine Spectrum) has both Bowlers in Black/Midnight and Large Bowler in Chalk. Most of the online stores only have the Large Bowler left.
I take it back, the drop handles are long enough to fit over the shoulder if your frame is petite. The Bowler is quite thick so they don't feel very comfortable this way, better used as hand held bag.
Agree with wickedassin on regular leather being more dull (vs. patent). I'm usually don't like patent leather, but this line won me over (doesn't feel like plastic at all). Patented Blush and Chalk styles bring out the beauty in an understated way. Black/Midnight are catchier. Lobster simply pops! I don't like Moss and Cola.

When I got to Barney's they couldn't find the black patent leather bag and I couldn't remember the SA's name. So now I'm waiting for the regular leather from Nordstrom and debating about trying to find a patent elsewhere for comparison.

The last time I looked, the same San Diego store that you got the regular leather one also had a patent one...

It's on Maiden Lane in Union Square. It's a block or so up the street from Neiman Marcus. If you stop there ask for Laura--she's great!
