Foxycleopatra- welcome! Great choices. I love both the Ursula Elise and the Ursula bowler, but I would choose the bowler because of the "cool vibe" that you mentioned. I was very close to ordering the bowler last week, but I'm fasting from shopping for clothes or accesories. "Sigh!"

The downside is that the handles are a bit "fat" so if you have smaller hands, it's harder to carry--especially the large size one. The one that Mischa has is the large size. I'd recommend trying the bag in the store and seeing what you think. The smaller size bowler was a little too "cutesy" to me.

Thanks for the heads-up! Yeah I actually tried on both the medium and the large sizes (Ursula Bowler) at the MJ store and it was apparent that the large one was way too big for me. I'm only considering getting the medium sized one. But isn't the one Mischa has (in those photos) the medium one?....that's what it looks like to me. I really like the way she wears that bag and how it looks like on her (proportions-wise, also with casual clothes)....just hoping that it is the medium one I have in mind...

^^^ Although she's tiny, I'm pretty sure that the photo with her in jeans is definitely the large size. The large is a more like a rectangle and the medium is like a square. To me, that bag looks more rectangular--that's why I think it's the large.

I meant to put this post here. Since I couldn't figure out if I could move it, here is my question in the right place. Sorry if you read it twice!!!

I love the MJ quilted Ursula tote. But is it really patent leather?

^^ I've seen the bag in two versions--just quilted leather and in PATENT quilted leather... I'd be a little cautious with the eluxury purchase since they seem to botch their descriptions at times. Some of the new MJ spring bag descriptions say that they have a suede lining when they DO NOT.

If you want that tote, I'd recommend going through Nordstrom instead. They don't charge that much for shipping, I think it's like $12.95. PLUS if the store in your area does not have the bag, ask them to waive the shipping. Nordy's has a policy if the store doesn't have it, the store that they're ordering it from ships it to you for free.

If you don't have a Nordstrom in your state--you'll save on taxes. I saw that tote in chalk (creamy white) and in black (both patent and regular leather) at my local Nordstrom. If you're interested, give them a call and ask for Joseph--he's the nicest and most helpful. Their number is 619.295.4441.

I have the quilted venetia and the handle drop is the same, i can wear it on my shoulder if i don't have a coat on.

the bowler is pretty casual imo. i was looking at buying the blush or moss as a casual bag.

I really like the black bowler. I've seen the red on sale at LVR. Does anyone have the dimensions for the medium and large bowlers?

I like the size that Mischa is carrying. It doesn't look as if it would ever fit a shoulder though...could it?

Bowler (12.5x5x9) comes in Blush, Black, Midnight, Lobster, Cola, Chalk. Large Bowler (16x6.5x10) comes in Midnight, Cola, Chalk, Blush, and Moss. The handles are short (hand-held styles), can't fit them over the shoulder.

i like the elise a lot better, the handles on the bowler were weird when i tried it. i think tha the elise is more ladylike, and i like the contrast of ladylike and distressed patent.

Hey thanks Bag lady!!! So it's the medium she has then, because that's the only one that comes in black.

I think that unfortunately these new season MJ bags have to be seen in person before you can know whether it's really for you or not...my Stam experience has taught me this.

When i look at the bag I drool, but when I try it on it's just not "me".

The black version of the bowler seen on Mischa actually comes in both medium and large (they only have two sizes for this Ursula bowler style, one is $975, the other $1075) -- all in patent (goat) leather. The black one in the large size also comes in regular, non-patent/non-glossy leather for $1075 (but no such version for the small one).....the non-patent bowler is really soft, compressible/slouchable (so even though it's the exact same dimensions as the large one in patent, it appears smaller than the patent one), but the caveat is that the material is easily scratchable/harder to take care of compared to the patent one. They have all of these available at Marc Jacob's flagship store in NYC as well as at Barney's in NY.

I saw it in cream leather, not patent, at Barneys. I really don't want black patent as I have two black patent leather bags. How is the leather on the regular quilted black? Thanks much; you are always so helpful!
