MISSONI for Target?

One of the best books I read a couple of years ago was called Deluxe: How Luxury Lost it's Luster. It's about how some top luxury brands have become "watered down" so to speak. It's a fascinating read. I do get it though. These designers want more profit, and want to reach the masses. The only thing that is sad to me is how much the Target Missoni merchandise is being listed for on Ebay. Hopefully not too many people will be paying those super inflated prices.

I'll have to read this! Sounds interesting.

I have a different opinion. I don't think Missoni have made tons of profit from this collaboration. Each Target received minimal stock without replenishment from each piece in the collection, leaving consumers hungry for more... It's more from an advertisement perspective that Missoni wanted to portray, and to let their name out to the masses... I think this is a genius idea, whoever thought of the collaboration... they have certainly achieved the effect. (Now, a lot more people know about the brand than ever before!)

I completely agree with your comment.

Marketing and advertising for the Missoni collab was amazing...even my non-fashion obsessed friends now recognize the name.

Now let's see what happens......will there be another collaboration down the road? Will it translate into more people buying orginal Missoni merchandise? It will be interesting to see it unfold. The real question is....which luxury designer is ripe for another collab? So many questions.....

I can only speak for myself of course, but I bought pieces from the Target collection and I just bought a regular Missoni scarf today. So for me, the Target collaboration brought my attention to the brand and I'm sure I'll buy more in the future.

Well i posted earlier and my opinions haven't changed but personally i like the Missoni for Target line better than the current full line. The current full line is just blah to me. No offense.

Anyone else having issues with things they purchased? I got a pair of blue legging/sweat pants that were originally $40. I wore them once and noticed the top part were the elastic top meets the pant is already starting to pull away, like noticably hole type of pull away. I know I didn't wear them too hard, in fact I wore a long T with them and thought it went well. But now they are falling apart after one day.

One of the things that attracted me to the Missoni to Target is the quality looked so good.
