Mineral Makeup

Ok so I've been experimenting a bit and this is what I've observed so far.

-The eyeshadow shades are lovely, the sparkly shimery ones don't blend well, they kind of look better plane, maybe a gold tone with a line of bright green near the lash line.

There aren't any matte colours out there, the brown seemed to look kind of nice with the shimery pink and it was blended easily. (in a creamy pearly sort of way)

Another interesting thing is that the minerals seem to make a nice eyeliner, if you moisten the brush and then use any of the minerals, sparkly or matte it looks amazing and it seems to stick very well, I did some on my hand and the black is as strong and dark as kohl, also I did a brown (which looks really nice) and a sparkly pink (it stuck really nice like a marker)

I liked the black the best, if you use it dry above the lash line it can make a nice soft line and gives the lashes a thicker look. So far the black is my favourite.

Has anyone tried Everyday minerals? Are they matte or also sparkly, I might send away for some samples.

My two issues with the eyeshadows are blending, I don't think it's easy to blend them so much - anyone find it otherwise?
Also because they are sparkly they are lovely for parties and occassions but for everyday use they're not too convenient.

I'm really happy with the foundation. And the blush is lovely!

I tried to get some pictures when I experimented with them on my hand, once I upload them I'll check the quality then post them.

Another observation, I seem to find it easier to actually use some of my organic moisturizer and mix it in my hand with the eyeshadow then apply it like a creamy eyeshadow, the colour is much nicer and it's easier to spread about, and sticks better.

Do you all who use the BM use the vitamin cream thingy that goes on the face before foundation or do you use other stuff?

I tried some of that pink sparkly shadow mixed with my moisturizer and used it as a blush, it looked very nice.

This is really fun to play around with. If anyone wants to share their own personal tips for Mineral Makeup use feel free to do so, I'm sure we'd all benefit.

I tried my physicians formula minerals today. Not too bad, but a little cakey. I think I'll order the samples of everyday minerals too. They have so many colors, it's hard to narrow it down.

I have a shadow from BE - it's called Celestine. It is a glimmer. I don't like to wear much eye makeup because I have very dark eyes, eyelashes and eyebrows already. The lady at Sephora suggested this one and I really like it. I use only that color across my eyelid, and a little mascara on the tips of my lashes. The shadow isn't sparkly, but kind of brightens my eye area. (I'm too old for sparkly!)

I'm glad you're having fun, Miss 2 A. I need to experiment more! I bought a carrying case (at wal-mart, nothing fancy) to keep all of these little pots of minerals in. I've accumulated lots of little pots already.

That's great dlg!

I just watched the DVD, it's amazing!! I should have watched it earlier lol so therefore I take back a lot of what I said in my last post.

Its amazing how she did mix the eyeshadows with water and they looked really good, the SA didn't mention that to me. Also I liked the way the eyeliner was applied with the thin brush. I'd like to pick up a few more products in the near future, I'm so inspired !! What more can I say??

My mom and sisters all watched the DVD and they were truly amazed, well they should be, I mean I dragged them all out early to Sephora this morning insisting that I needed to try this stuff out.

Anyone who hasn't tried Mineral Makeup before (like me) it I'd say go for it, get the kit and watch the DVD, there are some great tips there for applying all their products.
Then you could always switch to different mineral companies and products.

More photos as promised, here is how the eyeshadows look dry or wet on my hand, hope they're clear.

Obviously the stuff came off my hand quickly after washing and stuff, however there are still traces of it until now. I did a complete makeover on my mom today when she came over, she looked so lovely with the BM foundation and eyeliner/eyeshadow and she said it felt so light and natural. It covered up a lot of blemishes/freckles or hers, I was really amazed at how good it is, and we used just a speck of minerals as in the DVD.

I've tried bare escentuals but don't really love it...i don't like the slight shimmer it gives to my face! I prefer using bobbi brown's loose powder over the B.E. powder...

I'm definately no pro at BE, however I did my mom's face this afternoon and she looked very matte, not shimmery or anything, maybe the look varies depending on skin types, I have yet to try it on myself : )

Hey guys... I tried BE, and I found that I needed touch-up coverage during the day... I have oily skin... and well BE is supposed to be the ultimate answer for people with oily skin... so I returned my starter kit back to Sephora...

I'm sure I was applying it wrong... but what do you ladies use as touch-up during the day?

I just tried BE on myself this morning, it's amazing and though I don't have the bisque to cover up the veins around my eyes the foundation did very well. It's a really nice light foundation, and it definately showed a huge difference on my mom more than myself, even the SA at Sephora wondered why I wanted to use a foundation since my skin is pretty clear though I really need it around the eyes (since the blue/purple veins are very visible)
I love the feeling, it's so natural and allows my skin to breathe well, I can feel a dramatic difference since I used to use a pressed powder foundation before.

When my skin begins to break out a bit more (usually from foods and the like due to my psoriasis) I'll definately be able to cover it up with BE, really happy about that. It looked so good around the eyes that I didn't even use an eyeshadow, it's so refreshing as is.

It's so easy and fast to use, I wouldn't mind even touching up during the day if I had to.

I tried Everyday Minerals as well. I liked that they gave free samples and the colors matched my skin pretty well. My skin is really sensitive though...the mineral makeup made me break out! Don't know why, but it did.

I'm really excited to try Everyday minerals, I see they have matte eyeshadows, has anyone tried them? Do they blend well. I'll send away for a sample anyway, it seems lots of people say their products are excellent and well priced.

Oh another nice tip I tried from the DVD is dipping the lip balm in the minerals and creating a nice sparkly lip colour. LOVELY!
