I know some things about Rihanna's management; a lot of people in the industry and those that work with her attribute her success to them. They've paired her with the right people and given her great songs. She's fairly talentless--people that work with her admit it.

Talent isn't always measured by how great someone's voice is. Bottom line, Rhianna has the talent to position herself with good people and knows a hit when she sees it. I don't think she's anywhere near as talented as Adele or even Tay Swift, but I think it's obvious why she's popular. She makes great pop music.

I didn't compare her to Beyonce. I said that's like asking why Beyonce is popular. It's cause Beyonce knows how to make good music and has a history of doing so. Miley doesn't. Bey and Rhianna have multiple Grammys (not that a Grammy is the bar for musical talent)...Miley has 0. So if anything, you should be wondering why Miley is so popular, not Bey or Rhianna.

Rihanna doesn't make great pop music... her producers make great pop music. And her management team market her music, and to a certain extent, her image.

But I do understand why she is extremely popular... she is marketable, beautiful, has the it factor. No denying that.

Miley on the other hand is not near as marketable, has no it factor, and just comes across as making a parody of herself. I do not think she will have a lasting career at the rate she is going.

Just my two cents.

Look, I'm well aware of how music is made. Do you really think Rhi isn't in the studio sitting next to the producers and writers giving her input as well as actually co-writing some of her songs? Miley is in there with her producers/writers too. That's not really the point here.

Rhi (and Bey, for China up there) have a talent to know what's a winner, who to work with and how to pull off their images. They don't need to stir up controversy like this cause they let their music/persona speak for them and sell records based on that. In other words, Miley's popularity is based on cheap theatrics (for now at least), not solid hit making ability.

Ehh I think you are giving Rihanna and certainly Miley too much credit. No doubt they are in there. Are they giving any kind of direction? Ehh... even when they do I would be willing to bet they are humored more than anything. And Rihanna consistently stirs up controversy. Again, just my two cents.

Completely agree that Miley's popularity is founded on the theatrics. Popularity by those kind of theatrics never last.

Agree with your comment on Rihanna. She's not exactly lacking in controversial antics. In fact a lot of people think Miley is just taking hints from Rihanna's formula for being out there.
