mmm Not nice from Michael Kors to put Outlet bags in their website without warning their client. However I think we can guess some models are outlet by thei pricepoint no ?
anyway wouldnt it be better if MK did an outlet website?

im sure many would buy from that site, I think by now we all know outlet stores of every brand have lines made especially made for them and nothing wrong with it.

I totally agree. It would be nice if MK had an outlet site specifically for outlet bags instead of selling them on the regular MK site.

Aah, I wish I would have known this earlier. I was debating back and forth between Mercer Leather Convertible Tote and Hope Satchel. Macy's has the Mercer in black, but it will take 2 months to get to me. On the other hand, Michael Kors official website didn't have it in black. I settled with the Hope Satchel from the MK site. I wish I could cancel my order, but unfortunately, it's not possible.

I would like to point out that the "Sale" tab is not a dead giveaway of an outlet bag. Here's a screenshot from the MK's Collection that is clearly on "sale" but is not made for outlets. Price cuts could be related to clearance or events, such as Mothers Day. For example, last year, I bought the Ava Extra-Small Leather Crossbody for $82 on MK's website. I know the retail price is much higher than that, but it was on "sale." However, the XS Ava was also sold in Macy's and other retail locations. I think it's not accurate to assume that everything under the "Sale" tab equals outlet. Overall, price is simply not an indication if it's a bag is designed for an outlet or not. This is just my observation from cross-platform searches.

Capri Holdings, which was started by Michael Kors, is using this sly tactic at Versace now since they bought the brand. These Versace outlet bags look a lot like Michael Kors bags. They all come with an "original retail price" which didn't exist, and an 'outlet price" which is actually the real price. I believe that Capri Holdings keeps trying to replicate the same model as Michael Kors (and Michael by Michael Kors) through the brands that it acquires as if this is the only model that can generate income from a brand:

The only thing that these moves can do to Versace is tarnish the brand. Capri Holdings needs to learn from LVMH and Kering on how to "nurture" a heritage brand.

I agree, an item being on sale is not a giveaway at all because a lot of styles will be on sale on the MK site and at the same time be on sale on the Macy's site and to my knowledge Macy's does not carry MK outlet bags. The only giveaway I've seen so far for an item being an outlet bag is if the description shows vegan or PU leather. I've seen these non-leather styles at my local MK outlet but never in the MK stores or other dept. stores (Macy's, Dillards, etc.) One thing to try that might be helpful is Google image searches. Sometimes when I search Google images for styles, I can find web pages for items that are out of stock from a variety of retailers but the product page is still accessible (Macy's, Belk, Nordstrom, Dillards, etc). These retailers appear to carry non-outlet bags.

I also check YouTube often before I buy a bag. Sometimes when searching the style name I can find reviews on the bag (sometimes they tell where it came from) and I also search "Michael Kors Outlet" to see videos walking through the outlet store and showing styles. It's not exactly the best way (some outlets may carry a mix of outlet and MK store styles) but I sometimes find it helpful.
