Michael Kors "copies" other designers?

Wow, this is really important to you! You took a lot of time to comprise this list! Color me impressed!

"Copies" or uses as inspiration - call it what you will- but don't you think Michael Kors takes ideas off of some premier designers? I was shocked to see how much some of his stuff resembled that of Celine, LV, Prada, Valentino, etc.
Check this out..

What do you guys think?

Yes, MK DOES imitate or "get inspiration" from other brands....and to add to your list, right after Coach came out with their saffiano totes, MK came out with a line that looked/felt exactly the same. Won't buy MK for this reason.

he does use inspiration from other designers but i think a lot of them do. Also it's hard to say he's copying a style when it's just a basic leather tote or a structured satchel. These bags don't have a ton of details that he is copying. It's not a blatant knock off. I have no problem with it. I can't afford a leather tote so maybe I would get an MK....not a big deal to me.

In my previous years, I bought many MK purses. I did so because I liked the style, although I was unaware of whether they were copied off other designers or not... I wasn't looking at Prada or Celine at the time so I just thought, 'Hey that's a cute bag'. I feel like many MK shoppers could have this approach. Unless it is something really recognizable... like how so many bags have a monogram style that looks like LV. Or how Guess bags try to look like Gucci. Nowadays, I don't like buying something that feels like it has been knocked off of another designer, but if I didn't ever see the original designer's version, then I wouldn't know any better!

+1

they all sort of copy each other.
gucci boston and speedy B
prada bugatti and alma
saint laurent sac du jour and birkin
those are the premier brands that come to mind...
they don't really need to copy each other as they've already made their mark in the designer industry. but I suppose it's all about what's in trend.
it's like when everybody tries to be different, and they all end up looking the same.

Curious. I though Prada was the first one to come our with the Saffiano totes? Do we know?

He owes his huge financial success to the brands that he's ripped off. Surely designers copy each other every once in a while. For instance, it was Goyard who came up with the St. Louis bag first, and LV made a similar bag called the Neverfull. But Michael Kors copies a LOT more bags than most other brands.

I think that his brand is so successful because people think they are wearing "designer" accessories with his entry-level priced goods. Plus they can get a Valentino lookalike bag for much less. Sounds like "inspired" bags more so than "designer" bags to me.

I own a Michael Kors watch (manufactured by Fossil) and I don't like it anymore because of how much his brand copies other people. I don't ever want to buy anything from his brand again.

By the way, he didn't copy the Saffiano Lux tote so much as the Reed Krakoff bag. The only Prada similarity there is the use of Saffiano leather.

There're lots of cheapo bags copying designer's brands but MK is labelling his line as "designer" but in fact he's just a copycat

I guess Roberto Cavalli is not the only victim.
