RIP Michael, you were and always will be an incredible music icon. Thank you for all of the personal joy I gained listening to your music with the Jackson 5 and your Thriller days.

I pray the media will respect the anonymity of his children, and remember him more for his musical legacy than anything else.

I agree...I am so shocked by this, and I just really feel so sad for his family and his kids...may he rest in peace

I mean who doesn't remember the Thiller craze??

I do! I was 13 at the time...I had 4 full MJ posters in my room, a ton of MJ buttons(which were not allowed to be worn at school), 3 MJ t-shirts, and thriller on both album and tape!

This is unbelievably sad and shocking news. I know he was THE cultural icon of my generation....makes me think of junior high dances, sleepovers, and dorky boys wearing silver gloves and trying to moonwalk.

Just as Elvis and John Lennon's deaths were the shocks to a generation prior, I think many of us are feeling the same way today about Michael Jackson.

My heart goes out to his family, especially his children. I wish that the media would respect their privacy, but I know that won't happen.

^^^^yea, the media is way worse now than it was during the time of Elvis and John Lennon. Unfortunately!

I'm really worried about the kids. Child #3 doesn't have a legal mother....and there was always rumors that Debbie Rowe sold her rights to the first two children. I hope they will be OK (financially and emotionally).

^^ Debbie Rowe signed off on her parental rights a long time ago.

Unfortunately, the Jackson family attorney has spoken on several networks stating that MJ was an abuser of RX drugs so this is a sad part of this tragedy that people are going to post and discuss here. It's not rumor or innuendo when it comes from the family attorney.

i read this too..

In the moments following Michael Jackson's death -- so many people rushed to the Internet, that it practically stopped the entire WWW in its tracks.
Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, AIM -- just a few of the scores of major web sites bombed by a tidal wave of traffic. Most of the sites still worked, but the epically high traffic numbers caused them all to move at a snail's pace.

He's had some issues for a while and should have been carefully monitored, not cleared for a grueling tour. Opportunists feed off of celebs like him without a care for his well being. Nonetheless, it's still shocking when the inevitable actually happens. Nothing short of devastating to see such an icon of his trade pass so early. I thank MJ for sharing his talent with us. May he finally rest peacefully.
