^^ Exactly, film is an expensive medium, it can't sustain itself on the fumes of artistic integrity and the A-list is a signifier of bankability.

People within the industry constantly express frustration with that aspect of film making and there are many times when the business aspect dominates to the detriment of a project but if people want a "purer" form of expression they need to choose a cheaper art form... and even then, people have a very idealised picture of art, if you go back into art history you'll see art and commerce are very much entwined... just ask Michelangelo... or the Medicis.

My opinions on culture and art is not based nor influenced by Hollywood. Storytelling as an art-form that starts from oral presentation, books, stage (various); television and film.
It exists in all countries; we tell our stories even if the rest of the world is not aware of them. My criteria differs as it should because of my influences.
Hollywood denotes industrialized capitalism - if the formula works - then endless varying copies will follow. No areas for growth. They do not set the standard as to what I watch; how I process what I watch and how often. Consequently what I consider A-list will differ as it should. I am my own person.

Isn't that a day after the Oscar nominations? I kind of hope for his sake that they tape that a few days in advance, just in case he's actually snubbed. That's also the same day that Frank premieres at Sundance. I'm wondering if he'll even be able to go, especially with Macbeth in production.

In the UK they mostly do tape the show in advance (one week ahead) depending on the guest availabilities but mostly in case something goes wrong and other censorship... last time the behind the scenes with Marky Mark were even more than saucy as he was totally drunk and blatantly flirted with Sarah Silverman. They edited it as Graham Norton was NOT impressed with Marky Mark :D

He looks like a serial killer.
