Artica, how were the other BAFTA nommed ones? I love crisp, precise shorts. Some are loads better than rubbish long features.

I love shorts as well. The only problem I have with them is when you finally get into the story it's all of a sudden over.

Of this year's noms I have only seen PBH. Haven't had a chance to see Chalk and the other ones yet.

Have you seen PBH? It's good, but not great. Of course Fassy is drop dead gorgeous in it and Liam Cunningham is fabulous as usual.

I sat behind a couple who were kissy feely all night...until Pitch Black Heist started. The guy was checking out his gf while she was watching Fassbender on screen. It was funny.

Here is a new pic of Michael and a glimpse of his belly:

I really want to see PBH. How do I go about seeing it? Any ideas?

^I think it's only slowly making the rounds of (short films festivals / film fests in general with a shorts component/) around the UK and maybe the US (it'll be at SXSW) until later this year... that's probably your best bet. I've yet to see it but would love to, given the opportunity.

I wonder if Nicole was with him at the show. Or perhaps it was past her bedtime...:p That's if she's still there.

Also, I feel like I've seen that belly picture of Michael before, like a few months ago.

I first saw it at the BFI London Film Festival. You might wanna join the PBH facebook page to see where else it's playing.

I wanna see MacLean's first short with Michael. Does anyone know if it's online yet?

No, I don't think so. Maybe he'll go the way of Andrea Arnold+Criterion Corner: if he does get to direct his full-feature, he might include it in the DVD as a bonus feature. It's be the Michael & MacLean tryptich extravaganza :).

So is Hackney the new "it" place to live? I'm unfamiliar with London areas. I though it was a rough neighborhood but I may be wrong?

Not all areas of the borrough of Hackney are popular. A lot of places are still very rough and dangerous at night. It used to be relatively cheap to live there, but now it's become 'upmarket' a lot of the better places like Shoreditch are becoming ridiculously expensive. It's a nice place with lots of people working in media and the arts, though.

Thanks for the info on PBH. I'll look into it.

LOL! You're right. I bet it was past her bedtime. I find them to be a cute couple. I don't pretend to know Nicole at all but she may be out of her league just a little. Don't get me wrong, I like her and hope they stay together.

I'm glad Fassy is sporting underwear this time.

Jeez, I can't wait that long!

Just found out that Geraldine, the producer, works at Film 4, the same company who helped develop Hunger and Shame. MacLean and Fassy have the same agent. You are who you know.

LOL!!
Well, apparently she is a bit of a bossy pants, so she'll be calling the shots.
Bed time, Michael!! ;)

Yeah, I think MacLean is personal friends with McCaughan and that's how he initially linked up with Fassbender. IMO, his UK selections, until he became solidly in demand, were more interesting than the US ones and showed more flair -Hunger, Fish Tank, Eden Lake, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Shame, (Centurion) vs. Jonah Hex, Leap Year, Dinner for Schmucks, Inglourious Bs (great one and his big break here though)-. I don't know how much that has to do with the agent's hand in the matter though.

Hahaha! Amen. :D :D

Ehehe, noticed the same ;). Was going to say Nicole's got sass, but that sounds so stereotypical. Good thing Nicole would wear the underwear in such a dynamic... since Michael usually foregoes them. Heehee

Leap Year and Dinner for Schmucks? Are you referring to Michael's films?

Yeah. At that point in the game, I don't think he had any foot in US studios' doors so all I can think is -- Cooper really undersold his client! It's a good thing Fassbender didn't get those parts in the end, no? Sometimes, rejection is a blessing in disguise.
