Dunzo, I think Armani is a classic go-to, an unfailing option (as he's looked quite dapper in all the Armani he's worn until now) but not quite exciting or eye-poppingly unique at the same time. I can't think of any designer in particular that I'd love to see on the lad (something reminiscent of Milan's Pitti Uomo is always nice... something along the lines of Alexander McQueen/Ermenegildo Zegna/Lanvin/Dior? Would that make him look too metrosexual?).

I must say, I found the costume designer's work on Crazy Stupid Love, very impressive. Gosling's teal/olive suit + striped dress shirt + tan shoes/impeccable watch is straight out of "GQ best dressed". Any suit that has proper fabric quality and is well-fit instantly shows...whether it's branded or not. So that's all I'm asking for ;) Proper suit, proper shoes, proper watch (and a leeetle bit of moisturizer and hair putty). No golden rings, please :)

Heeheehee :laugh: Yeah, Damon owned that movie. Now I in addition simultaneously think "MAAATT DAMOOOONNN" (drone voice) :D:D Good Will Hunting was great... and I'm such a sucker in general for coming-of-age movies.

Loved that film as well. Team America made such an idiot out of him. Didn't Jimmy Kimmel have that I'm effing Matt Damon song. That was funny as well. Not to mention the dig that ***** made about Matt Damon and The Adjustment Bureau.

At the Tate he also wore these really cool black Adidas Vespa trainers. So I guess Armani and Adidas are sending the guy free stuff all the time. Good for him.

Yes, seems he gets tons of free stuff from adidas:
(...) I pick my way around boxes of Adidas trainers, which sit atop each other like a monolith in the middle of the floor. “He’s gotten so much stuff from them,” says Zoe in a flatly conspiratorial voice, as Fassbender attends to some business in the bathroom. “I’m trying to stop him from wearing the whole label, like, head-to-toe…”

(Vogue UK, january 2011, http://michael-fassbender-online.net/2011/01/01/the-charmer/)

Thanks for that Dunzo! I was too lazy to dig up the interview. I wish I had a monolith made out of boxes with Adidas shoes. The funny thing is, he still only wears the same converse and vespas. What does he do with the rest of those shoes?

I used to be a Nike girl all through my teens until I was converted to the church of Converse. What's your trainer of choice ladies or are you all Loubie girls?

I must say, I found Dayna Pink's work, (costume designer on Crazy Stupid Love), very impressive. Savile Row is the place where Fassy needs to go. Can't go wrong with a nice bespoke suit. Ozwald Boateng would be a good place to start. I think Fassy might be a bit too stingy to spend a couple of grand on a suit if he can get one for free from Armani.

Who's ready for the "Sexiest Man Alive" showdown contest tonight ? :graucho:

“My first Golden Globe nomination and I’m up against the most talented, handsome leading men in Hollywood. If anyone needs me, I’ll be in the bathtub with my toaster.”
- Michael Fassbender (joking not true, he never said that obviously )

@Artica: I have a pair of Loeffler Randall heels & Barbara Bui booties that I quite cherish, but in general I also live in my ooooold chuck taylors (they look grossly weathered at this point but I'm too lazy to get new ones) or flats, height be damned. Ironically, the very few $$ shoes I own aren't worn nearly often enough to warrant their cost, and the cheaper-costing ones are worn all the time, year-round and they're way more comfortable than their pricier sisters.

Our winters are super harsh over here so the typical Montrealer's foot uniform right now is a Sorel or a Pajar boot. Or a Chameau rainboot worn with thick woolies, so it doubles as rain gear in case we get sleeting rain!

---

Hehehe I also think that his mind doesn't think "Must get tailored suit and pay this much", being quite content with the made-to-measure suit that Mr. Giorgio is gifting him. His mentality is probably still like a cautious, jobbing's actor, and that's fine by me.

Now that we're talking clothes and shoes, it's really putting me in the mood for tonight's glitzy affair.

---

@Penny: Hah! Clooney has gone a long way in terms of looks ;) I wonder what Fassbender's class photos were like. Braces and freckles? A vuarnet t-shirt? Hehehe.

Seems Fassy isn't very into fashion, he likes casual clothes he feels comfortable in (tees, jeans, leather jackets).. and remember the flip flops in Venice ? i get it, but he has a great body and he would look amazing on red carpet if he hired a great stylist (do u know if he as one ? don't even know if he has a PR team). Hope he will not disapoint us tonight!

Artica, i really like comfy shoes for week end (ballet flats, sneakers: converse, veja) but i prefer heels for the office days even if they hurt

The chicken cutlet in her cheeks! They scare the willies out of me.

Awww didn't mean to slander Riseborough and Garai (they're very good actresses and keep out of the limelight -- I noticed at parts that Riseborough was quite serious about the craft she was talking about - and it is an impression that stuck with me for other interviews. Will very happily be wrong about that. Funnily enough, like Fassbender, I find her blonde locks not very advantaging her pale complexion. She's stunning with dark hair, especially in the green sequined Dolce and Gabbana.

Btw, the Viggo interview (Letterman) is available on YouTube but I can't seem to add it in my post. Nor successfully attach images.

Oh don't worry, you were not slandering them at all, just stating how both of them came across to you ;) IA that Andrea R. is striking with black locks. She pulled off the dress even though I don't like the dress itself.

I was going to post it anyway (you beat me to it).

So here's Viggo Mortensen interview on Letterman :

I think he was messing with us with his little story about Fassbender :p
He's just an adorable prankster (like his son apparently) :smile1:

You know there might be some truth to Viggo's words. There's a video from the set of ADM with Michael prepping for the shoot - in Vienna coffee house. I saved gifs some time ago and forgot about them. Here they are

@penny: di caprio was really cute in his teen years, skinny boyish cute (romeo&Juliet -titanic), but i don't think he gets better with age, unlike clooney or Pitt. It's weird, because he still looks kinda boyish but has now to play manly characters.

Ladies, I'm (always) on the search for the perfect office pump. Killer look, relatively comfortable... does it exist? Is there one you swear by?
I'm trying to find an Alexander Wang Anais doppelganger, but no such luck. The market for pointy-toed pompadour tassel heel is sadly empty :D

Yeah, doesn't feel like he has a PR team at all. Good for him, but I wonder, given his talent and his stratospheric rise in H-Wood, if there will come a day where he'll have to cave in and get at the very least an assistant or manager or someone more than an agent. Unless he does a Bill Murray & asks people to call a number & leave a message...:laugh:

A lot of people seem to think that Carey Mulligan has an air of haughtiness as well. I just think that she's very shy and awkward. Almost like a deer in the headlight. So endearing.
'

Carey Mulligan gives the loveliest and most detailed interviews (as long as they are not televised late-night shows because the poor darling seems paralysed into a case of the giggles) and she seems to wear her heart on her sleeve so I think her shyness is more immediately detectable --do some people really think she's snobby and dislike it? Aww. If anything, I think I just misjudge her look of misery in certain photographs (see: NBR) but I don't, or hope it doesn't appear like haughtiness.

I find similarities between her and Fassbender, in the sense that she might have a self-conscious fear of being undertalented bc she didn't get into acting school, whereas Fassbender will joke about not being intellectual, but you can sense self-consciousness about not attending uni. And the irony is that she's talented beyond 98% of her peers, and he's super intuitive and perceptive, and I swear his answers sometimes sound like class material that some social psychology professors were discussing in my undergraduate classes. Nothing to worry about, you two. You both turned out quite fine :laugh:.

I've heard the same about Carey but who ever read one of her interviews can easily come to a conclusion she's not like that. :smile1: The thing is she's not very fond of paps so in most of her candids, she is either frowning or looks like she's ****ed off.

I think Michael does tend to be self conscious (I can imagine having a older sis with a PhD doesn't help) but he is very intelligent and very eloquent when he talks about things he's passionate about (acting, music, motorcycles, etc.) There are plenty of idiots who go to college and don't have a lick of sense (trust me I know XP)

ITA and I'll just add that there are idiots who go to postgraduate studies, end up with PhD and no common sense at all, despite working in scientific community, speaking from the 1st hand experience.

Imo, the downside to continued postgraduate studies is that it shelters you from the work market, and some do not have much work experience in their CV, instead filled with a bajillion research paper authorship -- it's not a problem at all if you stay in the academic world, which itself has its own kind of competition; but there's so much learning "onsite'' in non-academia jobs, and suddenly all that researching isn't an advantage anymore. One can have a PH.D. but at the same time might lack proper reflex when interviewed about realtime case scenarios.
