I wish Michael was doing the Graham Norton show while in the UK.

Me too! Although I prefer the format of the Jonathan Ross show. I've been in the audience at both shows. Jonathan really gives all his guests the time to talk. It might not all end up in the show, but he still gives them some one on one time. Graham Norton tries to chuck as many guests as possible on the sofa, which works well on some occasions. The show with Carey Mulligan, Depp and Gervais was a good example that it often doesn't work. Poor Carey didn't get to say a peep, because of Ricky Gervais who's clearly in love with his own voice.

Then again I watched the round-table conversation for the Hollywood Reporter and she and Michelle Williams barely uttered a word. I guess she's very shy.

Watch it here if you haven't seen it already. Queen Viola is flawless as usual.

Here's another little gem you might want to listen to. It's the Guardian Weekly Podcast hosted by Jason Solomons. You might remember him from the Hunger DVD. His interviews with the cast and crew are part of the Extra's.

I especially love the part where Jason mentions how he loves the scene where Michael walks around the apartment 'flopping around' and Michael's reaction to it.

Both Gleeson and Jarmush's scripts are not finished yet but I don't think both projects are dead yet... I hope not, it would have been awesome to see Micheal play a vampire with such perfect teeth for the part

I find it very odd that he hasn't made any appearances on a real US talk show (Letterman, Conan, Ferguson, Stewart, Leno, Kimmel...) yet to promote his movies to a bigger audience and have a real shot at the Oscars. Maybe he's a bit shy and doesn't want to expose himself on American TV yet but he'll have to it someday :hrmm:

Carey Mulligan was on Graham Norton last month for Shame :smile1:

I agree. So far he's only done the Strombo show in Canada and the Irish one 2 years ago. To be honest I can't really blame him. I don't know if you saw him on that French show in November. It was a complete embarrassment.

I really like Ross too. I think Michael can hold his own on Graham. I find that some of the comedians on there try to but in and interrupt the star while they are talking :P

The Gaurdian did a really good article on Michael Very through about his life. Highlighting a few passages:
Fassbender is not, he says, "very exhibitionist" when it comes to taking off his clothes. "I was self-conscious, for sure, but it was something I had to get over very quickly. Those scenes are really where you get an insight into the guy's psyche. When you see him naked, it's in more ways than one. I had to be on the ball and not thinking about those things. And you try to make sure that your partner in the scene is comfortable. I'd say, 'Let's go for it now and it'll be over soon.' It sounds terrible, like a really bad chat-up line." He laughs. "Quite threatening, actually."

"I had the keys to the church and had to open it in the morning, and attend all the masses and weddings and funerals and whatever it entailed for that month. And lock the church at night. That's quite a lot to do at 12. And I remember –" he starts to giggle – "a couple of times I slept in. And the whole congregation was waiting outside the church. And we had these American priests who'd come to visit, and I'd be running across the fields with the keys. It was so crazy to think it was in my hands. But that was my first experience in a way of being on stage, before an audience, of sorts."

Yes I watched him on that French talk show "Le Grand Journal" in fact I was among the audience that day :smile1: when they pre-recorded it a few days before it finally aired on TV (and I was also at the Premiere's private screening and party the night before so I've seen things that better remain private about the dude's beast within ). I've talked to him and snagged some pictures with Steve and Gaspard too :graucho: it was surreal (and Francois Ozon was also there, God I hated that Angel movie so much :btdh:) MF is a real flirt when he's interested and a bit drunk and has such mesmerizing eyes :faint: but sadly I didn't end the night in his hotel room (I guess I care too much about my sweetshop and self esteem) but Nicole sure did that night :sneaky:

Anyway, he didn't left the studio happy that day, he didn't liked the questions they asked him (neither did I) he thought it was so dumb and unprofessional  and the host didn't even seem to care or know who he really was at the time (they were oddly more excited when that bloated Depp's face came on the next day ) and damn he couldn't even say his name right calling him "FassbInder" every single time ! Also the old chicks were awkwardly drooling over him and rudely asking him to take his hat off :welcome: supposedly to be able to see his pretty eyes or asking him if it was really his peen in the movie :shame: or if he was a sex addict himself. The other guest was an old fart, a boring French TV host, who couldn't seem to keep his mouth shut for more that 5 seconds...
It was all kinds of secondhand embarrassment that day I swear...:lolots:
That's probably why he didn't came back on the show two weeks later to promote A Dangerous Method but Viggo, Vincent and David were there though :hugs:

I'm sure you'll have tons of questions for me after this but I'll answer them all tomorrow... Bonne nuit les amis :sleepy:

Most U.S. talk show hosts are comedians. Can you imagine the field day they would have with the subject matter of Shame? I think for Fassy's sake steering clear of those shows is a good move for now.

Isn't the Landmark Theater owned by Quentin Tarantino? I remember hearing something about that in an interview with Christoph Waltz during the Inglorious Basterds promo. I could be mistaken though... And too lazy to check right now. :D

Just wanted to say hi! *waves* Am new to this lovely forum. :smile1:

Here's some new pictures of Fassy at the 'A Dangerous Method' after party held in London hanging out with the producer and Keira Knighley's boyfriend James Righton (from the British indie band The Klaxons):

If not to promote 'Shame' he should have at least promoted 'X Men: First Class', 'A Dangerous Method' or 'Haywire' on some of these US talk shows :wondering even if he wants to be considered as a serious and Oscar worthy actor in Hollywood. He's always fun, goofy and relaxed in interviews so I don't see why not and many talented actors and actresses keep promoting serious or controversial movies on these talk shows (Tom Hanks, Charlize Theron, George Clooney, Kate Winslet, Johnny Depp, Julia Roberts, Tom Cruise...).
Either he's already considering himself as an A-List actor who's too good and bankable :supacool: to lower their public image by appearing on random funny talk shows (like Leonardo Dicaprio, Brad Pitt, Nicolas Cage, Angelina Jolie, Christian Bale or Reese Witherspoon:king:) or he's just shy and uncomfortable and rather not be on them... But if Kristen awkward Stewart can do it I'm sure he can too
I hardly doubt he's obnoxious and already full of himself though

Michael made the final 5 in the BAFTAs with Leo, Pitt, Clooney, and Jean

Leonardo Dicaprio 'J. Edgar', George Clooney 'The Descendants' and Brad Pitt 'Moneyball' are trying too hard to get that Oscar (Golden Globe, BAFTA...) for years now and their movies were quite boring and overrated to be honest I don't think that anyone of them has a strong chance of winning something this year
The race will probably go down between Michael Fassbender 'Shame' and Jean Dujardin 'The Artist' but being French myself I can tell you that Jean is not a very good actor and will never be, he used to be a stand up comedian (not funny either) and he's already full of himself over nothing and 'The Artist' is the most overrated movie of the year to me (mute boring black and white French movies are not for everybody I guess ).
I think Michael has the best shot at winning  and he's the only one who seems to really deserve it this year (following the path of Daniel Day Lewis :worthy:) if the controversial subject matter doesn't stand in his way... And I still think Michael Shannon 'Take Shelter' was robbed from getting a well-deserved nod too :wtf:
