It's because I saw a bag I liked for a while, but can only find it in silver. I would love the pewter. I think I will just wait until I find a color I'm comfortable with.
Thank you for all your replies!

I think the bag's design determines whether it's casual, not the metallic finish. So, for example, that gorgeous BV seems perfectly right for daytime, being a simple and classic but not fussy or rigid design.

I admire metallics but haven't found one I have to have.

I really love metallics, such a gunmetal. I also rotate my bags pretty often. I really enjoy them. I would say yes, however I am not sure what the wear on a bag like that would look after some time of heavy use as compared to a non metallic bag. :)

That's the other thing, how it would wear. And if it would be soft. If I get one I'll start with something small.

I love a metallic bag, fresh new look for the season. I would prefer an antique metallic look. It doesn't look so harsh.

I think the pewter works well with the new season wardrobe.

I love metallis and prefer them as my neutrals to black. I have everything from pewter to silver to gold. I don't "get" why people feel they are just for evening. I think that the size and shape of the bag say evening vs. the color. For example, you can wear a very dramatic black bag for the evening but no one would say that is the only time you can wear black.

I think you are thinking "metal" vs. "metallic". All of my metallic bags are very soft. And while some won't wear well that is really more a statement on that particular bag's material and finish. I'd suggest looking at a variety of metallic bags online and finding a few that interest you. Then see them in person. But if one doesn't speak to you, no need to force it! No one style is for everyone.

I love them! I have one from Petusco and the other one from MK and they are excellent!
It is so dependent on the bag. I've had many metallic silvers that are rather understated and wore like iron !! Other times though, felt like I was carrying a blingy billboard ewwww. I do have a small Coach wallet an a wristlet in silver caviar leather (which has a bit of black in it) which I love and have been incredibly durable !!

That's what Im worries about too, the bag being too flashy. The bag I was looking at was kind of big, I think a smaller metallic is something I would like more.
