It's a stunner, Maice! I keep eying that bag whenever I see it on a department store's web site, but I have yet to take the plunge. :p I adore the cross-hatch pattern; it really sets off the platinum.

Thank you, Elaine! :D It's a very nice, practical bag - waterproof, super light, and it's more "dressy" than the usual Le Pliage bags so it can be dressed up or down. I agree with you on the pattern too. It's my only metallic bag so far. :smile1:

So far??? Does that mean we can expect to see more? :D

My next bag purchase (in 2015, or December 2014 if there's a sale) will be... be still, my beating heart!... a full-sized black bag. I know, I know... booooooring! But when I took inventory, I realized that with all my gorgeous bags, that was one thing I actually didn't own! I have a couple of black mini bags, which are fine for weekends, but don't hold enough for during the week.

So now I'm doing research. I want to find something that's about 12" across, and 9" high. Not too fussy. And excellent quality. Possibly a Bal city, but there is also Mulberry that has caught my eye. We shall see!

I seriously see myself purchasing another metallic bag in the future (not right now or in the near future since I'm *still* bag content :p , but whenever that next time will be :giggles:) - I loved looking at your metallic bags Elaine, as well as at the other bags posted in this thread. :D

From how you described your collection, I agree that a big black bag is in order  A City is great, of course - but after seeing your Alexa (and I know another gal in the Prada subforum who recently just got herself an Alexa as well, and loves it as much as you love yours) - Mulberry seems like another excellent candidate. I'd be very interested to see what you get for your birthday in December :graucho:

I tried.
With silver.
And failed.
Also looked @ mulberry's metallic mushroom color dreamily.
But didn't take plunge.

Work well for some, who enjoy shine & color matching versatility.
Others feel metallic is tacky & too flash.

Go with your gut.
And commit less money than to neutral bags.
Would be my advice.
See how it goes, for you.

Hope helps.

What do you all think of them? I'm interested in one but not sure. Can you wear them year round?
Are you talking metallic, as in chrome-finished, or just the leather treatment?

Depending on your budget, Bottega Veneta makes some very nice muted metallic finish leather bags. You can also find BV on the resale market for less. I have owned a few metallic finished bags, and it was a nice muted changed of pace, but still glam. Do you have your eye on something in particular?

You didn't ask, but also consider the staying power: BV metallic finish bags wear very nicely over time (years) with wear showing up on the handles and corners first; even then the wear fits in with the finish on the bag and doesn't look bad. Mulberry and other more expensive bags also have a great reputation for metallics.

Here is an example of a metallic finish on BV's Cervo Hobo bag; I've seen this in person, and it's just lovely.

I was actually thinking of silver... Just don't think I'd be comfortable with it...

Silver is a neutral for me, gunmetal too

Only way to try is to try (with real bags before you buy)

but

I don't see the point in pushing yourself into something you're not comfortable with :shrugs:
