Still thinking about getting my first Bal City but debating between a Metal Edge vs Giant 12. How much does the chevre slouch compared to lambskin over time?
It slouches, but it will never puddle in the way a super-thin leather will. The thickness and nature of the leathers are very different. To me, the slouch of ME chevre is attractive. I especially like how hardy the chevre is.
Lambskin is gorgeous but I could never pull the trigger because of the puddling. I'm afraid of falling out of love with the bag because I liked its original shape better. I think, I could go for lambskin in a mini size and a Metal Edge in the regular. Brick red is just so beautiful.
If the puddling isn't something you want and you'd still like lambskin, there are base shaper options. To me it defeats the beauty of Bal to structure it up, but you could.
The chèvre of ME is so luscious--have you played with one in person? That may sway you.
I actually like the slouch when things are inside, but I'm not a fan of puddling as the bag ages.
There are no stores where I live. Biggest brands here are Kors, Spade, and Coach. I'd have to take a flight, lol.

The Metal Plate City comes with a long strap ONLY if you purchase it from the Balenciaga boutique; otherwise, it's the same strap as the regular City!
Are you sure? I saw one at Neiman Marcus and the SA was gushing about the longer strap.

Hi CeeJay! I'm in Cambridge, so Neimans and Barneys are all too easy to get to! Maybe the long strap is a regional thing, since there's no Bal boutique in Boston? Just guessing here, although SAs are usually so disappointing. I remember looking at Gris Tarmac when it came out and asking the SA, "What color is this?" She looked at me like I was an idiot and said, "Um, gray?"
I have two (one city and one town). Both are fine!
