Metal edge chèvre

They're both beautiful! I am considering a black ME city as well for this year, if I can't find a black hamilton one in good condition. I actually like the glossier chèvre on metallic edge bags better, but I wanted a regular city with no metal edge (I'm also picky and don't like the super coated feel of the regular lamb leather as much as chèvre).
thank you

wow - they are so beautiful!
I'm so undecided whether to get the black ME...or a black Montaigne MM...or wait and find a Black RGGH City!
:thinkin:

Thanks MG, I love these ME bags..... the leather is fab. I like LV too and tried on the Montaigne, but I prefer silver hw on black so the Bal won.

Hello! I have a bit of a dilemma and I wonder if anyone has any advice? In the summer of 2015 I bought my first Balenciaga bag, a black Metallic Edge City. I thought a black City would be perfect for everyday use, and that one in chèvre would be best as I live in London and it rains quite a lot.
However now I'm so uncertain about it - I used it once and it's sat on the shelf ever since. It's a lovely bag but I think it's not the right style for me, it looks quite harsh on me. I tend to look better in softer-looking things and don't really wear black or anything in a very sleek/modern style.
I'm beginning to think that maybe I should try and sell it but it sounds very complicated and I don't know what companies in the U.K. are good for reselling - you lose a lot of money over it don't you?
Does anyone have any thoughts on this - can I salvage the situation? Thank you so much!

You don't have to love it just because others do. Yes, it's beautiful and practical, but if it isn't doing it, move it along. Yes, you will lose some money. There's a ton of info on where and how to sell in the EBay forum including about UK consigners. Have you looked there?

Thank you so much for your reply! Yes I think maybe I should move on and find something that makes me really happy... I've been looking for information but a lot of it seems to be U.S.-specific or else describing problems with reselling sites rather than recommending any - but I'll try the eBay forum again, thank you! :)

If you decide to try another Bal bag may I recommend getting one with the regular hardware rather than ME or G12? It's a softer look IMO, the hardware doesn't stand out as much in contrast to the leather. One other point, do remember if you're purchasing new rather than pre-loved the leather will be stiffer, especially the chevre. But with use the leather will soften and slouch and hang really nicely!

Thank you for the advice! I originally chose ME for the durability of the chèvre, and worry that the lambskin of other styles might not do so well in the London rain. But I do think the other styles are better for me really... If only they'd use chèvre for some bags with different, softer-looking hardware! Maybe I'll go and have a look at the lambskin ones and try and work out if they'd be all right... Thank you! :)

I have both lamb and chèvre Bals and atm the ME is my favourite. Esp in this weather and London living (yes I'm a London girl too;))
The lamb bags are more casual looking but are very nice too. They will need some more tlc and paler colours need to be protected from colour transfer.
If you are not convinced about your ME sell it on. I don't do eBay any longer and consign my bags. Apart from labelsmostwanted, there is also npnbags.co.uk. Both sites are very reputable and it takes away all the hassle of selling on fleabay!

I wear lamb skin bags a lot in Vancouver Canada, land of rain......You could always look for an older chevre bag? Or if you luck out you might find an older Hamilton city bag, the older ones came in regular hardware I believe.

Oh brilliant thank you so much! I'll look into that!

Recently bought a bag from Labels mots wanted and everything went really smooth and I was updated about the purchase and shipping several times. Have absolutely nothing to complain about (and I am quite a hard to please customer).

If they are half as good with sellers you will be extremely pleased :)

It's such a hard decision! I'm away on holiday at the moment so I'm kind of hoping that when I get home it'll look a bit less sleek and saturated black than I remember... Maybe I'm building up the ME into more of a problem than it is. It's been bothering me for a while though. Or maybe it will look more "me" as it ages... I kind of wish it'd lighten in colour but it sounds like chèvre doesn't do that.
So I'm starting to look into my options on reselling (as you say, I don't really want to go the eBay route!).
Thanks so much for the advice! It's so helpful. :)
