Messed-up Brand new bag!

Did you pay with a credit card? some credit cards, have insurance included with them that covers anything you buy with the card for 30 days. LIke if you buy a glass vase and drop it the next day, they will replace.

Does AmEx do this?

Thank you everyne so much for your opinions. Im a little frustrated and I have been told theres a high possiblity LV wont fisx it for me, but I will try asap.

If I ant fix it, I will still use it like that though! I am seriously considering putting a bit of white shoe paint on it. Is that a ridiculous idea?

Ouch to the shoe paint!

I can't imagine how gutted you must feel, I'm be traumatised! How about phoning your travel insurance company, say you purchased your bag, and something must have spilled on the case and damaged the bag? (No need to mention the hair spray?) Worth a phone call?

I know it isn't much consolation, but at least the mark is on the bottom of the bag. I'm sure the mark wouldn't be too noticable, I imagine, when it's standing and not too much when you're carrying?

If it's really bothering you though, and you get no joy with your insurance (and if memory serves, Amex used to do an accidental damage/loss cover with items for 30 days - not sure if they still do) then rather than having a go with the shoe paint, take it to a specialist cleaner, and see what they say? From experience, I know I've tried the "home remedy" approach, and have made myself feel even worse, when I've hashed it completely!

I hope you get your *still* very lovely bag sorted!

Good luck!

K

I'm sorry about your bag...keeping my fingers crossed for you! I think you should try calling AMEX and see what their policy is on it. Please let us know what happens.

I wouldn't do anything passed a Magic Eraser before taking it to LV. YOu don't want to make it worse... I'm so sorry. This is heartbreaking and I hope you get your new baby all fixed up.

Thanks for everyones advice! All much apprecited!

Im going to Paris tomorrow morning, and im staying untill Tuesday again, i'm taking it to the LV store i got it from there. Hopefully itll work out. (and no im not going ONLY to have my bag fixed! I go quite often as its my second hometown).

So, anyone want me to check anything out forthem while i'm there?

I hope you are able to fix your bag. Hairspray leaked thru my daughters bag once too. Now we travel with ziplock bags and caps over the spray pump if we don't have the cap we leave it behind.

O0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0oo0o0h! I am shedding tears for you and that poor bag, my heart is soo0o0o0o0o0o0o0o weak right now, I keep going back to the original photo, to look at the pictures.

Oh, that would send me into a depression. In reality, keep things in perspective, it's distressing but not a catastophe. I also would have the bag repaired by the maker in whatever way they suggest. In the future (I know that doesn't help now) keep all toiletries in bottles, cans, tubes, jars, etc. in a completely different bag from your expensive clothes and accessories. It may be an extra piece of luggage but it saves a great deal of stress and keeps your stuff safe. Goo luck!

Yeah, not to pile on with the obvious, but I never travel with aerosols or pump sprays. I just take a small gel and I pack that in a ziploc bag INSIDE a nylon travel bag inside the actual suitcase.

No hairspray means I have a slightly different look when I travel, but it's more casual and I like that.

I also had a hairspray accident a few years ago when some silk/wool clothing was ruined and now I just don't pack sprays of any type on airplane trips. The low pressure and pressure changes on flights really reeks havoc on anything pressurized or liquid.
