View attachment 5303293Not sure if I should plan to order this via SA…it very tempting!
I have the taurillon one and I wear it at least once a week. It is leather so it is a bit dressy but still a cap so it is very versatile. I know the leather isn’t the same so I can’t help you with how the hat will wear, but the look is almost the same. I don’t think you will regret it if you get this one.

No fountain pen?

Beautiful agenda and Montblanc, but still I was about to say the same! In my experience, LV paper, like most, does not play nicely with flowing inks. The most bombproof ink I've found to use with non-fountain pen papers is Sailor Kiwa-Guro Nano Black, which has nano particles that helps the ink sit atop the paper, rather than sinking into it, feathering, and bleeding through. When used with an XF or F nib any paper is fountain pen paper.

Hi. Anyone realize or care that LV under Kim Jones offered almost 30 different briefcases, now 8 are offered Also, the last LV mens departments I've visited displayed no beiefcases. Backpacks and very small mens bags only. Looks like the category of business cases being eliminated. A shame,LV made some wonderful briefcases over the years. I feel like the women's stuff is so beautiful and elegant and the product for men is strictly for an urban streetwear consumer

How much of that is just the the rapid de-formalization of men's fashion, rather than the preferences of the creative director? I did love the briefcases of that era, but I can't imagine they'd sell in any decent numbers these days, especially post-covid.

And if you really want one from LV, they can be found but just not in a display case.

Yes and no. The regular briefcases were not really influenced by the creative director neither now nor 6 years ago. There were a few rare and extreme pieces included in the show collections. But most of them, and the ones that were actually sold, were seasonal collection pieces, designed by their regular designers (maybe approved by the director). So I believe that this slow downsizing of the category is more of a business decision.
They focus more on loud and weird streetwear pieces (which is OK, we would sounds like a grumpy old man for hating that), but what I don't get is that why can a huge house like Vuitton not afford to have a wide classic sortiment too? Not for everything being manufactured all the time and having everything on display. But it would be very nice if their classic and iconic pieces could be available for made-to-order. Good example is the Porte Documents Voyage. It is THE Vuitton business bag. And now only its PM versions are available in 3 prints. The PM, that is quite a new redesign and is considered by most a cheaper and lesser alternative to the amazing classic. Why can't they keep around those decades old classics, so we can order them in the core canvases and leathers? Especially that for a business buyer or long time client, it wouldn't be a problem to wait 3-6 months for a custom bag. Killing the Porte Documents Voyage is like as if they got rid of the Speedy or the Papillon (which they also did, haha). I don't know, but I know that they won't change course and this will be just getting worse.

I agree with my friend @BULL
The LV brand is no longer doing it for me. It's been over 4 years now. I have sold 90% of my collection and moved over to Hermes. I've kept a few iconic pieces.

BULL is so spot on! The porter document voyage in the standard size is iconic. It's been reduced in size and only offers in gaudy colors and 55k crocodile so many customers of the more traditional leather goods for men have been completely jettisoned by LV while they chase the streetwear crowd. I still love the brand and the great history behind it but very little I can buy from them

You can have the classic, just pay a 40% premium. That makes it not worth it after the 945 price hikes in the last few years since I'm sure the in-house canvas costs but have increased exponentially and they gave everybody a $15 wage hike. Bernard if you're reading this, you did give them wages increases since raising prices... right?

We are about the same, about 4 years of crazy buying, had 6 Keepalls at one point, watch roll, etc, etc; now I keep just two Keepalls and a half dozen unique pieces but I'm moving onto hard sided and after that not sure where I'll end up. Things have became too watered down and doesn't feel special due to the price hikes, quality issues, and political climate of not feeling safe carrying these items.

It’s quite simple actually. Yes, they were classics in the sense that they were produced for years without much of a redesign, not because they were huge sellers, but rather because LV never invested in their Men’s Universe. Now they are invested and these non-sellers were discontinued/retired.
