The bag IS limited in production. They do not stock each store with more than one at a time. Once sold, store puts in an order for a new one and its not guarantee that they would get one.
I was able to score mine after a lot of cat and mouse chase.View attachment 4148742

Maybe that's the case now, but they had at least two in stock in Cannes this winter. I almost bought it but then decided to pick up a small trunk instead. What bothered me is the practical aspect of the closure for an every day bag, and the quality of the leather they use with mono eclipse and DC... I just don't love this "waxed" leather. Regardless, it is a beautiful bag and your photo makes it look even more stunning!

I thought they were using finer leather for the steamer backpack. LOL

Between New Bond Street and Sloan Street stores. I drove the SAs insane to get the bag.
I can see your point about the practical aspect of the closure, however I do not wear mine as shown in the picture. The leather straps are tucked in the same position under the leather flap. The flap then goes over them and I can still lock it. This gives me direct/easy access to the bag without having to touch the straps. They can stay the way they are. I am madly in love with the bag. I wanted a piece of history yet modern to use. What I like about it, it is almost close to being a keepall 45 allowing you to pack 2 days of clothing plus my small eclipse toiletry bag!
