Anyone have a Mick MM that's around 5'10-6' tall? If so, I'd love to see a picture to see how the bag would look on someone similar to my height.

LVBastille,
Thanks for the suggestion on the Dayton Reporter MM... Somehow I overlooked that option when I was researching. I wish the LV website had a picture of the inside.

Need some advice so I'm hoping you guys can help me out...

I have a PDV in DG that I use for work and completely love. I'm now looking for a messenger bag that's suitable for both work as well as outings/vacation when I'm not wearing a suit or sportcoat. Largest thing I'll need to carry will be a few letter-size files, a full-size iPad, and a small umbrella. I'm kind of stuck between the District MM and the Mick MM (or PM).

I really like that the Mick style is zippered instead of a flap. However, I'm concerned that the Mick MM may be way too large or look out-of-proportion to me. My local boutique doesn't have any of the men's bags in stock so I can't actually see one in person. I'm 5'10 with a slim-to-average build. I'm also thinking the the PM-size won't hold what I need to carry.

Thoughts? Any recommendations are most appreciated.

District mm hands down. I have one, and I think it's a perfect size. Casual enough for leasure/travel, and formal enough for work etc.

If you prefer a zip rather than a flap have you considered the Jake line?
I do not like the appearance of the diagonal zip on the Mick because to me it looks messy and expect it would be a bit tedious to use and that things might fall out.
I have a Taiga Viktor and DG Messenger NM - both discontinued; they have flap closure with a zipped compartment and are very easy and convenient to use.
Did you mean DG for your PDV?
I am similar build to you and don't think any of them would be too large.

My concern was accessing the District while standing to grab my umbrella or something like that. That the flap opening towards you would be 'in the way' due to the way it would open. I also felt the zippers on the Mick would prove more secure should the bag fall over, etc.

I'm basically only considering the DG pattern since it goes best with the clothing I wear and matches my other LV items.

Anyone with a Mick MM have a picture of how the bag looks when carried? I haven't completely discounted the District, but would love to see how the Mick looks also on a similar sized guy.

The only boutique near me has to special order all men's stuff. They carry none in store except billfolds. So I basically have to make my mind up without seeing in real life.... which sucks :(

I love my Mick MM and I'm 5'6/7ish. It's the perfect companion as it is slim and kind of molds to your body so that it's super comfortable. The other messengers IMO are more structured.

I do think that the function is perfect for what your are saying you need!

Csecos,

How wide is the MM version? The website said something like 17"???? Is that correct or do they have their measurements off?

In comparing your picture to Dorf's they look about the same size which is why I'm asking.

Viper1973: I completely agree with csetcos. I don't have pix (or my Mick MM) available now, but I'm 6'0" and the MM is perfect on me.

I have a (non-LV) leather flap-style messenger--as mentioned by others--that I use most weekdays. I do find the flap gets in my way at times and can make access difficult unless both hands are free. It's the reason I bought the Mick; I love the zippered access and that it molds to my body as csetcos said.

As to size, I had to check the website; I was surprised to see that you're correct about the 17". It doesn't seem anywhere nearly as large as 17" implies. Also, it tapers down from that 17" at the top to around 15" at the bottom.

Bottom line: I love my Mick MM and believe you will, too.

I really like both the District and the Mick. I have neither since I'm a small woman and have no need for either at this time in my life. But to my eye the District is more professional and the Mick is more casual. The District can go from professional to casual but the Mick can't go from casual to professional as easily. Just my opinion. I certainly don't believe you can go wrong with either one.

Do you guys think a Mick is too casual for an office environment?

I have a PDV that I carry to work when I wear a suit or sport coat so I don't tear up the shoulders on my jackets. I was wanting either the Mick or District to use when I was just wearing just a shirt and tie or in a more casual setting like souvenir shopping on vacation, weekends, etc.
