Silky friends - it's time for us to talk about the maxi twilly and do an assessment of them. The new season designs and colors are out and I am on the fence about buying more. I'm hoping everyone with maxi twillies can chime in and add their two cents about them. Perhaps there are some pros or cons I have not thought of?

Here's my take. I have a black and dark maroon calvacadour:
Pros:
- I think they are useful for warmer days
- They add a punch of color to an outfit
- The silk (for me) has held up quite well and I think the quality is pretty good. Although I would like to hear from others that have worn theirs more often than I have. I don't mind that it doesn't have a rolled hem
- Reasonable price

Cons:
- I don't reach for them as much as other scarves. I find the width a bit hard to tame. It always ends up looking very floppy or sloppy unless I spend a lot of time securing all the silk.
- I don't think they provide much warmth for cold winters
- I can't figure out if it works better with a casual outfit or dressy outfit.
- My waist is not thin enough to make it look good as an obi belt like a lot of the women here. So I lose out on that one very awesome way to tie it.

What about you guys? Please share with the rest of us if yours has lived up to your expectation. I'd love to hear how others have felt about theirs.

Here's a way around your belt predicament, MYH:

I don't have a maxi-twilly but I have used an HS folded in the basic fold with some kind of belt kit by aspry (similar to H belt kit to secure the scarf). My top is gathered with full sleeves, worn with a pencil skirt, both dark, with a dark background HS. Works fine as a belt. The belt kit seems to allow the scarf to taper and narrow toward the size and back of the outfit, but I can widen the scarf a bit in the center front to show off the design.

Another way to get a belt effect is to tie the HS around the waist and wear an open jacket so the HS shows only in the center front.

Awwww! I'm so happy to inspire you my dear!!!! Can't wait to see your new MT!!!! I find the MT very easy to wear and very versatile in warm environments! I hope you love it as much as I love mine :hugs:
Thank you! I thought as much too about the warmer climate (especially today)... I just need a matching exotic CDC as you've stunningly demostrated to really set it off nicely! :graucho:

It really is beautiful,Gixxer, I hope that you enjoy it too!
Thank you! I love how you matched it so beautifully to your Lindy and a black top (I almost exclusively wear black so this combo was a winning formula)!

Will report back when I get it :D

Thanks for posting this. Was thinking of getting rid of my MT as a gravitate to the squares more. But looking at this thread and reading answers to your post, the MT definitely does fill a space the squares cannot. First, I LOVE it as an obi sash - I wear it this was often as a pop of color to break up a black sheath or with monochromatic pants and top. Also I like wearing it with a collared shirt as a loose mens tie.

Don't think I would collect more of them as I'm trying to keep my scarf collection manageable :graucho: but the BdG does look gorgeous!

Hello,
my favorite design of the Maxi Twilly is Brides de Gala, but I have the impression that this version is more rare than the others. Could this be possible? I have never seen the red one in the European Online Shop.

I would not worry, it's still so very early in the season, so many things have not shown up in boutiques or online, yet.
I get the feeling a few things were held back, waiting for the price increase, but it's also normal for stock to trickle in in spurts.
I also want the BdG but in the Fuschia/Noir cw. I only just got the call that one has been found.
