I went back an forth on this coat but I'm so glad I got it now! It is so warm and cozy, I wanna wear it all the time. I don't know how it's so big and still so flattering but somehow it works. Love
Max Mara Teddy COAT - IS IT STILL A THING?

Both look stunning on you! What are the sizes you are wearing on the picture? I am debating between Camel, Grey and Black but the problem is I have no idea how they feel when you touch them because they are all made of different wool: Camel is 82%camel wool + 12%silk; Grey is 44%alpaca and 44%wool + 12%silk; Black is the Tedgirl and they are all 62%alpaca and 26%wool +12%silk. Where I live (UK) I can't see them in a shop apart from the camel version so this is the only one I've tried on (in size S and I still feel it's too big, XS probably would be the best fit for me) and know how it feels.
I would really appreciate a bit of a help because the small sizes are selling so fast and soon I won't be able to find any of these in XS or S online

I have the grey one. It's very soft and it seems to be lighter than the camel one (tried that a couple of years ago and found it a bit too heavy for me). I'm 5'7'' and wearing size S but size XS would also work.

Hi there I’m wearing xs in both colors. Im 5’6 and find the sleeves to be a tad short but it doesn’t bother me too much. In terms of the material yeah my SA said she thinks the camel felt softer, I didn't notice too much of a difference. Both coats are super light which was a surprise to me. Good luck deciding. U can’t go wrong with any of them.
I was at Max Mara this past week and tried on all these coats as well as navy. I'm 5'5", 117 lbs and the xsmall is still roomy. The sleeves just fit (lengthwise). All coat material looks and feels identical to one another; as a matter of fact, I didn't realize the wool percentages were different until I came home and went on the website. Hope this helps.
The camel one fluffs minimal different (fluffs coarser I would say...) when you look at it closely, but overall not really noticable. Touch feels about the same I would say...
The closeup in grey is from my grey Teddy coat, the camel one from my camel Max Mara Marinm bag which has the same composition as the camel coat. Hope that helps.
I tried both grey and camel coat in the store and did not notice any weight difference. They are super light (especially compared to any Teddy coat dupes - which often are either bulky or heavy). I am still very impressed how warm the coat actually is, despite being so light. I have been wearing it for the past month or so with temperature around 0° Celsius and it is often still to warm.
For me the arm length is perfect in XS, but I am only 5"2', about 110 lbs.

Good luck deciding! I had to make the same decision! I love the camel as it is the classic color, but the grey is also beautiful. I decided for the grey because I thought it matches my wardrobe better, but in store I really got indecisive again, because another brown shade tabacco also looked great, which was the only one they had in store in XS. I nearly took it, but decided to order the grey in XS in store to get a better comparison.
After trying both in the correct size, I went with my initial gut feeling, that grey suits me better and I am superhappy with it!

Ps. Quick question:. From where did you order and did they send you an official hanger and a dust bag?
This is making a lot of sense now….. I tried camel on in Selfridges recently as I wanted to try sizes as small seems hard to come by. I liked it despite being a medium it worked ( I’m 5ft 2 size 10/12) but small would be better. I ordered the red which I got on sale on Matches but something doesn’t feel quite the same. Fabric content now answers a few things. It also has a crunchy sound if that makes sense but that is only if you scrunch the fabric. I’m not really selling this coat to myself am I I do like the red and think this is one coat that’s better in a colour, bit like a BV Cassette bag
Does anyone know if the Teddy coat can be taken in? I know they are supposed to be oversized but even the XS is gigantic on me. I need just a little bit taken in on the back as I look like I’m carrying an extra person! Coat was not purchased at max mara but wondering if they will alter for a fee.
Wondering the same - received size small today and I need xsmall but it's sold out in Camel color..
