I know all the stars are coming out now and saying how wonderful he was, but honestly, he didn’t seem that kind in the book he wrote. He sounded super jealous of whenever anyone else got laughs on Friends, and talked about doing such low things like having his realtor take him to homes for sale in LA just for the purpose of him rifling through their medicine cabinets for drugs. I mean sure it’s sad, but he was no angel.

no one is perfect but I don't think the time for pointing that out is right after their death (assuming they're basically decent/not evil)

He was insecure, lonely and desperate for validation. People label that as jealousy but it's really a spiritual aching to belong and feel accepted.

He was an addict! And he became one because of an injury as a teen, not out of mischievous rebellion; not to mention that he spent decades battling that addiction which takes a ridiculous amount of strength and resilience. Of the things that addicts often do to cope with their daily battle, this is mild.
I mean sure it’s sad, but he was no angel.
He opened a Sober House and worked tirelessly to help others overcome their addictions. He even repeatedly went on record to say that just because he hadn't beaten his demons, it didn't mean he couldn't use his unique understanding to help others beat theirs. That this was to be his legacy.

These things all speak to the type of human being he actually was. He had the money, clout and access to just go live in a drug-induced stupor but, instead, he continued working to overcome his addictions and help others overcome theirs.

The reason other celebs are speaking kindly of him now is because he was a good person at his core who did a lot of good deeds in his life and they're acknowledging that.

He did open a sober house for men from his former home in Malibu for a few years, but in 2015, sold that home and said he'd find another location to open a similar facility. That never occurred.

Reactions: Bag peace
Im happy to read Lia Kudrow (Phoebe) is going to adopt his doggie.
I haven't seen any postings by the Friends' cast about his death. Which seems unusual but in a way is nice because it would be about them rather than about Matthew.

Like Justin Trudeau's post going on about childhood memories which I thought was self serving. Christian Lemieux went to the same high school and her post was classy IMHO.
