Like a thrombus rapture…Unfortunately, this often happens to the heavy addicts after they quit and return to a normal, active lifestyle. Happened to a close friend of mine…I am very sorry for Matthew Perry. RIP.
How does your colon almost rupture??? And why would a hot tub exacerbate things? Very sad…he was my fave on the series.
This photo reminds me of those awful ones of Lisa Marie Presley a few years back. She too had substance abuse problems. Horrible the effects it can have on your body - both internally and externally.He didn’t look very healthy or happy in this photo TMZ had from three weeks ago. And he looked older than his age.

An obstruction could cause a rupture, or possibly an infection. Hot tubs have warnings for people who have heart or circulatory conditions to talk with their doctor before using them. Even healthy people aren’t supposed to stay in one for more than 15 minutes or so but you know that many ignore that recommendation.
My SM feeds are filled with this news Just more sad news in already sad world news. I always wonder what comes first -- fame and insecurity or the money to "party" that gets out of hand. Either way it's very sad.

Our law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... authorities found anti-depressants, anti-anxiety drugs and a COPD drug in the house. COPD is short for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease -- that drug is often used for people who have emphysema or chronic bronchitis. Matthew was a smoker during his life. The L.A. County Coroner will conduct a toxicology exam to determine if any drugs were in Perry's system, but that could take months.

Long term substance abuse took its toll on him. From the NY Times:
Mr. Perry first went to rehab in 1997 for what was described in news reports as an addiction to pain medication. In 2000, he was hospitalized for pancreatitis, an inflammation that can be caused by alcohol and drug abuse.
His addiction led to a series of complications in 2018 that included pneumonia, an exploded colon, a brief stint on life support, two weeks in a coma, nine months with a colostomy bag and more than a dozen stomach surgeries.
They tell you to avoid hot tubs if you have health issues like high blood pressure.
