I got 2 clutches - the rubens and van gogh. I got them because they are wacky, fun, gaudy, garish, colorful, different, weird, loud, hideous, functional and easily packable for all my travels. I haven't bought an LV in over a year, 90% Chanel and 10% Dior (the last 50 or so bags) so I guess something resurrected the need to execute. These screamed tacky in the best of ways. I didn't want a big face on a bag (mona lisa) or a dog's furry tail in a child's crotch (fragonard) so I went with "pretty" (van gogh) or "interesting" (rubens). They called yesterday, items are en route. We shall see...I am open to loathing them, or scratching that guilty pleasure *fashion don't* itch. Either way, I was all to curious to at least see IRL.
If money didn't matter, I would buy those two. The pochette is the only one I would wear and like in this collection.

My SA flooded my phone earlier with photos from this collection and I have to say they are way overpriced. I showed them to my husband and his reaction was "WTH! Are those Hugh Hefner's designs (must be the bunny charm)?" LOL. The bags do illicit a strong reaction from people---hating it or loving it. I also think that this collection will be very easy to copy and there will be a lot of fake bags in the market soon.

I think that this collection is too special to be worth being faked.

It does elicit a strong reaction, and that's the point of fashion and creativity. They're taking risks and getting people talking. I hope it doesn't get faked, but I doubt it would be faked much, as the drawings and details have to be done exactly right, and I don't know how many buyers would snap fakes, as this is not your typical LV collection, ie monogram, damier etc.

Oh well, I can tell you that in China, they copy even the radar system for military or cars so.. handbag is nothing. But as I am reading here most of people hate this collection and say it's worthless so why concerning about that being copy.

Most hate it, but not all! :flowers:

I like the fact that they are moving beyond their comfort zones, that's what creativity is all about - taking risks. I do like this better than the Nicolas Ghesquire stuff unveiled last fall.

I talked with store manager from Stockholm today, he said it's too early to say until you hold products on your hand. They received many orders until now especially Van Gogh. I can still change my mind after receiving the Speedy, which I ordered but I think I will keep it.

I can imagine these bags will sell like hot cakes in China. Just because of differing cultures and taste. I remember we had to redesign interior for a 3* hotel in HK nearly 2 years back. Their target audience was mainland China not the western tourist. We was specifically told, design had to evoke opulence and grandeur. So lots of gold and ornate fitures and fittings. When I think about it, many of the master pieces Koons has chosen really demonstrate grandeur and opulence which I reckon the Chinese audience would love regardless of the bunny.

Exactly, they love gold

i think this collab is fun, sure not everyone's cup of tea, but still
i love the van gogh collection!!

but what i dont understand is what jeff koons has to do with this? the printing of the artists letters?
some people mentioned the letters are his "thing" but to me, the bags would be better without the letters and just plain canvas with the art printed on it

fun collection but definitely dont understand what jeff koons has to do with this and why he gets credit for putting some metal letters on other artists work

In my own personal opinion I think this is the worst LV has ever produced. This is like a high school project with paste the picture on a purse and call it art. I am sure many will be rushing to buy these because they are LV limited editions. Then the tacky letters in the front. When I first saw pictures of this on a different forum I thought it was a delayed April Fools joke. I would be embarrassed to carry this. Just my personal opinion. For those who love these great works of art bags I am sure you will have fun wearing them.
I wonder which Hollywood Person from the gala will be seen in public carrying one of these bags?
They should have asked Kanye to design these. I remember he gave Kim an original painted art Hermes.

Anyone who truly appreciates art won't be carrying these. And I couldn't agree more with what you've said!
