Just thought I'd give a shout out for the Large size for anybody who's waffling...
I am not big by any stretch of the imagination but the size could not be more perfect for what I use it for. And I don't think it looks ridiculous at all. Over here, I pretty much do all shopping by foot, picking up this and that (you never know what you find and I'm still sorting out things for our new apartment) and always getting the groceries (including wine) on the way home. I have had everything in this bag, and I mean
everything... Who said you couldn't put a water bottle in it???
The handles fit neatly over my shoulder, even with a sweater and coat on -- more importantly, they stay on! I can't tell you hot gorgeous that is, especially when filled to the brim (and there's no need to close the top, hallelujah!). The handles are solid and I mean solid, I don't see them ever stretching or getting out of shape... The strap, however, I don't think I'd ever trust because of the way it's attached unless you have a really light load... I have finally just taken it off.
I've had it now almost two weeks and it has gone out everyday in the rain and snow. It has even been in the mud and dirty floors and you know what? It looks the same as when I first got it!
This is a really hardy bag and I think it will take a *lot* more abuse and, even then, I am not sure it will ever show it. The bag is extraordinarily light in itself which is a joy when you're filling it up. The leather, deceptively thin, seems to hold up as well -- even with sharp objects (not that I'd recommend this -- just say I have tested it).
Although slouchy, it has reinforcement on the bottom, which allows it to retain its shape regardless of what is in it. Which is fantastic for use, though part of me wishes it would mush a bit to not look quite so large when it's empty... This isn't a B-bag, folks, in that way. Neither do I really think the leather will ever feel as good as the 05 Chevre but, lord knows, I'm doing my best to break it in
I realise a lot of people may not need a bag this large for every day, but for travel, work, or school (I can even fit in a 17" MacBook, though the MBA looks much nicer), it's brilliant!
My only quibble would be the pockets -- scratch that,
the pocket. Carrying it necessitates you to put one side closest to you (otherwise the key is sticking into a delicate region). Unfortunately, the one zip internal pocket is closest to you, next to your body... Safer, I'm sure, but it really sucks if you need to get your wallet, keys, or cell phone (not that you can even hear it in that cavern). I have to take the bag off my shoulder and on a counter or the ground to dig something out of there... Why so stingy, Marco? In my opinion, it's a fatal flaw in an otherwise almost perfect around-the-town bag for me.

FYI: I got the Medium size as well, but haven't really used it yet. I imagine when I'm visiting home and driving I will, but here it isn't nearly as useful. Knowing what I will likely put in there (read: heavy camera lenses), I just don't trust the strap as it is. And, while I can just barely get the handles over my shoulder (as long as I'm almost naked), a hand needs to be on it lest it fall off -- in other words, you can't... It also suffers from the useless pocket syndrome, too, but not nearly so bad since the bag isn't huge... I've started to use it a few times and ended up moving my stuff back to my City, which I trust, sigh. I really do need to give this more of a chance.
I know my needs are very specific and the Medium is probably the best choice for most... But if MT came out with a bag somewhere in-between sizes with longer handles (I think going much bigger on the Medium may loses it's look as they are spaced quite close together), I would be the first in line! Add a more secure strap (and pockets, please!) and I would be in heaven
