Thanks for all the compliments on my new bag imlvholic, bxvixen and ******! I'll be using her tomorrow, can't wait! I was supposed to get this bag yesterday, but wasn't home, went shopping and out to dinner with my lovely family! Very fast delivery, Erica :)

Bad news...I have an update!
I was modeling my new bag for DH and went to use the shoulder strap, to show him how versatile the bag is, and everything in my bag almost fell out! In other words, the bag has to be closed up to use the shoulder strap. It really doesn't bother me since I can't use shoulder bags alot; I have a bad shoulder from many years of heavy handbags!!! But, I thought I'd share this news to all of you. The straps are too small for me to put on my shoulder, but smaller framed people probably can (Bal cities or velos do not fit on my shoulder). Overall, if you want a shoulder bag, the large size would be best to purchase.

Handbag Goddess,

It looks great on you!

Erica already said the straps on the medium would be too small to wear on the shoulder (even shorter than the Bal City, etc.) so that doesn't come as any surprise...

But what is this about having to close it to use the shoulder straps?

Do you mean you have to connect the shoulder strap first with it closed? Or that you can't wear it open with them on and the bag not closed? Or that you can't open it all with the bag on your shoulder?

Now I'm worried :confused1:

^I think this pic of the Olsen twin carrying the bag with the shoulder strap shows how it would look carried this way. Due to the slouchy nature of the bag and the fact that the shoulder strap connects to the bag only from the back the bag would have to be buckled up at the front to stop everything falling out. HTH!

Many congrats on your new bag Goddess!

Your very welcome in Paris. It would have been easier to carry using the shoulder strap if it connected to the sides of the bag like the balenciaga city instead of at the back. IMO the bag just looks strange carried this way. What do you think?

I agree that it looks a little odd.

I hadn't quite realised that was the way the straps were attached... A little worrisome...

Then again, it might work better for me -- the City sometimes gets in the way of my shooting arm (I'm a photographer) and I've been known to throw down my 05 bag in a puddle of muck just to free my arm :wtf:

Yes, you are right...the shoulder strap is ONLY connected to the BACK of the bag. But, that's ok for me and I still love the bag! Thanks again for everyone's kind words on my new purchase! Can't wait to take it out and officially use it for the first time!!!

HI everyone,

I just received my first MT today (thx E!) and also have a question on what's the best way to carry the bag? open and over the arm? i need to have easy access to my purse and it appears that if i carry it over my shoulder with the flap open, the items might fall out....pls share any tips! :)

mochafaye, I have been carrying mine open and on the arm when I need easy access - it's actually worked ok for me as an arm carried bag since it's so light. I have to say though that I was asked by MT to provide feedback on the bags - he was delighted that so many of you have had interest. I kindly pointed out that this might be an improvement that could be made on future collections, regarding how it can't be worn open with the shoulder strap as the things fall out. I also mentioned it might be nice to get a few more inches of shoulder clearance on the handles in the medium.

^ that's great Erica that you were able to provide MT with some feedback! Thanks!!.. What about a size in between the medium and the large? The large could then become an extra large. It definitely works great as a travel/weekend bag but something a bit smaller would be great for those who like to carry large bags on a daily basis or feel that the medium is a bit too small for them.
