I think it's a fantastic idea as well!

I am also wondering if it would only apply to new bags purchased at boutiques or for any MJ bag you own you could purchase the warranty separately?

that's why I was thinking that it might be a better idea to charge a nominal fee for repairs as they're needed (beyond the initial warranty period, which should be automatic for a certain period of time) -- what if you buy a second hand bag and something goes wrong, but the original owner didn't buy the extended warranty?? if they charged on an "as-needed" basis, you could still have it repaired for a nominal fee

OH! One more thing... I think "lifetime" should truly mean lifetime.

For example, Coach SAYS there is a lifetime warranty... but when you go use it they say "it's for the lifetime of the bag, which we average about 5-7 years" or something sneaky like that.

So, please, lifetime = forever?

i dont know if i remember right, but when i bought my zc, the salesgirl said that i could bring it back anytime to get it repaired. i *think* she said there was a lifetime warranty but i wasn't really listening.

I am very greatfull with your feedback.
This policy has not been set up yet, but we are still working on it.
I know there are many questions, the only thing I can tell you in
advance the policy repair will be extend from 18 months to 24 months
for MJ Collections bags....between us ok?

OMG one of the highlights of my day!

I think the Lifetime Warrantee option would be definitely a nice option to consider. I think it would be a good idea to offer several options:
1) Per bag basis
2) Flat rate per owner regardless of number of bags (Melly I totally have you in mind!)

Would the 24 month original warrantee only apply to future released bags when that program finally gets set up (I.E. Spring 09 and on) or would other bags be grandfathered into the new 24 month period?

Also, it would be important to make it clear whether the extended warrantee would need to be elected and paid for at the time of purchase or whether you would need some sort of application process toward the end of 24 months.

ETA- What about bags that are unrepairable? I emailed Repairs and included a link to some pics of the parts of my bag that needed work to make sure Repairs could assess whether it was fixable. I was given an SRO, sent my bag back only to be informed it was unrepairable since it was not a manufacturing defect :crybaby: (This was a problem with the alignment on my PW Venetia). Maybe MJRepairs could offer some other consolation "prize" when problems are unable to be corrected (I.E. COACH sends a letter for 40% off an item). I don't mind spending the S&H when my bag comes back fixed, but if it comes back in the same condition after 3 weeks, it's disappointing to have gone through all the effort.

Diego- we really appreciate you coming to us for feedback! It means a lot that the Marc Jacobs brand values its clients and obsessed fans!

Diego...you rock! As a collector who usually buys pre-owned bags, I would love to have an option to get things repaired. For instance, there is a bag on e-bay right now, but a hardware piece has fallen off....I would love to know that if I bought it, I could get it repaired....would make buying it worthwhile. Please let us know the outcome.

Yeahhhhh! That is a great idea  Diego! I would invest in that and I own 12 bags already. It would make me feel more confident wearing them more often (to work, etc) and I could use the new "insurance" as a negotiating tool with DH - ya know so I can buy more MJs.

YOU ROCK :0)

:jammin::supacool::woohoo:

PS Tell Marc we love to see him so happy with his new love .
