My experience is that in general SAs can only hold items for a week. There isn't much point in contacting them before that because even if the perfect item is in the store, they won't be able to keep it for you for that long anyway. The B/K quota applies to everyone (with VIP exceptions I'm sure) but the semesters run Jan-June and July-Dec so if you got one in May, you are theoretically available to get another one now. I'd give the SA a call a week ahead of your trip to remind them of your email, maybe with the excuse of "oh yeah I just remembered this other thing I was hoping to look at while there next week, in addition to the items I emailed about" Good luck.

Thanks again for your tips. I ended up calling my SA and he has something special waiting for me! Fingers crossed it's something high on my wishlist! :)

My personal experience has been to find an SA that you click with. If you are into a B/K (or multiple Bs/Ks haha), you are in for the long run and you want an SA that you are comfortable with, that you know has your back, and that you know will go out of their way to give you that "shopping experience".

I considered a number of SAs before settling with mine (OK, settling sounds terrible. I mean, I decided to go with mine). One test that I typically do is to ask the SAs for a particular item, not to the level of a B/K, but something that's cheaper yet harder to locate. Examples would be the Canadian Wild scarf that was released earlier this year. If your SA goes out of their way to find the item for you, you might have found the right person. Some SAs don't really bother with the smaller items because, commissions, especially around an item that is in high demand, so to me that's a differentiating factor.

If you can find a way to go to a non-local store maybe just once or twice a quarter, I think a relationship in that store is doable. DC and Boston aren't *that* far that it makes it impossible for you to make it work.

Good luck and happy hunting!

You don't have to be "in-store" to maintain a relationship. Staying current with non B/K, e.g. other bags and SLG and scarves, shawls, etc. through TPF and H.com and other boutiques you visit is a great way to choose pieces that you might like to purchase. And then you can make a phone appointment with the Boston SA to to make your purchases. Hope this alternative makes sense.

I agree with the previous comments. I would also like to add 2 more factors to consider, 1) whether the SA understands your style 2) if you feel comfortable with overall vibe of the store.

If you're looking for B / K, it's likely that you'll purchase other items to get your "dream bag" -- either you know or not exactly know what the specs of that bag is (H just makes too many amazing bags that things you don't think of but so gorgeous and better than your expectation just fall into your hands sometimes). You need an SA that will find you things that make you feel naturally excited getting, not obliged to get in order to get that B or K. And the better you get along with other SAs / the whole store, the more likely you'll get things you like when they have to choose which customer to give when there's only one.

Good luck!

Thank you all for your insight and advice. I'm going with the flow at this point--one visit isn't enough to make or break a budding relationship yet. We'll see where it goes, I genuinely love the brand, and I have a wish list that's a mile long, so I'm not just in it for a B/K. I could end up with a closet full of Evelynes and I'd be happy--the clemence leather is spectacular!

I'm having a dilemma. What do you do if you email your SA a few times without a response? Call the store? I hate to be such a stalker, but some of the items that I wanted are no longer on the website now. I'm not going to be at the store in-person for another month or so.

What dilemma ?
Call the store asap and, next time, order online.

My reveal from my trip is up in a separate thread! Thanks to all for your support

Tip for those who e-mail their SA: my SA says that he can't see photos attached to the email on their iPads, so maybe that has something to do with lack of response. I also think that if you're an out of state customer, it's best not to e-mail until 2-3 weeks out like it was suggested.

Question: Do SA get commission on items they order for you from another store or online?

Just call and if you cant reach her and need to leave a message be sure to say you are contacting her to purchase some things on your next visit and wanting to see if they are available. So that way when they do pass on the message its at least along the lines of "your client wants to buy something if you can call her back" lol. My store knows me well im not afraid to be stalker-esk it got me a bag within 3 months of shopping at H and hopefully next bag in December.

I ask my SA for her watsapp
Then I watsapp to ask her if I see something I’m interested in before I pop into the shop
That way it’s easier for her to check her message but isn’t as intruding as calling her up since she can check and reply in her own time

Are you sure? I email my SAs pictures of items that I am looking for, most of the time the pictures are screenshots from TPF [emoji15]

To answer your question, I think most items they get from other stores are done on a swap. They give something to the other store and that store gives them what you want. You then buy it from your SA. Now both the store and the SA has one less item in inventory so the SA gets commission and the store gets credit for moved inventory. This is also why it's difficult to get them to transfer in a high demand item from another store...the other store doesn't want to clog their inventory with a hard to sell item in place of the easy to sell item they've already got. Hope that makes sense. (And I have no idea about online transfers. I would hope so but somehow doubt it since it would be in the company's better interest to sell directly to you through the .com and skirt commission.)

On a related note...a few months ago I bought a wallet from my Vegas SA. The next day, i saw the same wallet in a color I liked slightly better at a different Vegas store. To be anonymous, I called a store in NYC and asked them hypothetically, if I bought a wallet at a different H in the city and wanted to exchange it for the exact same item but different color at their store, would my original SA retain credit for the sale. The woman on the phone assured me that as long as I got the store manager involved in the return, that he would key the new sale under my original SA. I ended up not wanting to risk it since my SA had just gotten me a Birkin but I do wonder if it's true.

Wanted to get some advise from you all. 1) At what point you would share your wish list to your SA?
2) I have been looking for a few items - wallets and bracelets in a particular color and hardware. But my SA indicated that they don’t know when they will get the items with the specs that I want as they do not have them at this point and they can’t place an order for those either . I wonder when will I ever get to fulfill the wishlist and it isn’t even possible? I assume either my SA will have to keep a close eye on what they get and match as close as possible with what I want? Another SA has placed a “global search” on an item I wanted but I have not heard back for over two months. If she indeed find it down the road, will I be “blacklisted” if I don’t take the item?
