if at all that is going to have impact on my relationship with my SA and possible future invites for such sales
You can simply ask that she keep you in mind for future events concerning xyz
Are you talking about a sale (off site reduced prices) or an in store selling event? SAs don’t have input into sale invites and won’t care if you go or not. The entire thing is completely removed from them and the store. If you’re talking about an in-store selling event, like a RTW, Fine Jewelry, or Fragrance event, the SA does have input into those invites and usually select clients who have shown an interest in the specific category. However, even if it’s one of these events, your SA won’t really mind if you can’t go, they will just invite another client when you RSVP “no”.
💯

Stopped in today to pick up a pair of boots that had been ordered for me.

My SA brought up QBs and said that the new policy is one per year 😢😢😢. Me crying inside that just as I’ve decided I love these bags they are being even more restricted. She said they are prioritizing people who don’t have a bag at all.

(This may of course be just my store in the US - we serve almost the most area of any store but are not a flagship so stock is super limited)

Honestly cannot wait for the instagram/influencer Hermes trend to die a quick death.
Oh no- do you think the change is recent? I am waiting for a QB this year, but thinking I might be pounding sand as I placed a SO in March- thinking my SA might feel like I am maxed for the year just in case the SO comes in by end of 2024. Ahh- it all works out in the end…if my SO comes in I will be in heaven!!!

Maybe it’s just me but I think it is. I know the market is still humming but I think the slowdown is coming. Casual buyers who went nuts during the pandemic are pulling back. H and other luxury purveyors know this and have tried a number of retention strategies. Prioritizing new customers makes sense and gets them hooked temporarily. Raising prices or opening exclusive salons creates scarcity mindset. Long term though I don’t think it works because the bulk of customers lose interest. Long term customers will eventually be reprioritized but will they be there when the brands pay attention to them once again.

The caveat to this is that good SAs know their valued customers and will do what’s in their control to deliver results.

I’m not sure it’s humming as much anymore given the sheer number of bk offers we’ve seen these last few months. My guess is there is a slowdown so they’re trying to make it up in bag offers. I expect to see revenue up for leather sales when they report out q3. Luxury generally is on a downswing and it seems the general public has even more of a distaste for h than before. Note this Reddit thread . It seemed like they were focusing on long term clients earlier this year but it seems they’re back to trying to lure in new ones. I don’t see why both can’t be done. It’s not like the pandemic where streams of clients were lining up for h. They really need to stop it with the influencers. It’s annoying a lot more clients than they realize. So much so I was talking to one the other day and they said they felt like burning all their Hermes. They’re tired of the flex culture with influencers with their Mk and b25 and talon nails with bad hair coloring jobs and fast fashion outfits while wearing chypres and Orans. It’s like a uniform now.

Not the bad dye jobs 😂😂😂

Anyone catch RHOSLC last night? The uniform was on full display.

Yes we are saying exactly the same thing. I don’t think we’ll see the slowdown in Q3 reporting. I’m a bit more bullish but I think Q1-2 2025 will be a shock to luxury’s system.

I agree with this. I’m not exactly in a rush. . .id like to enjoy what I have and of course build up the coffers too
In the context of this thread topic, I think that my home SA and my FSH SA both appreciate this philosophy.
And, in the end, if I don’t see anything for me, they actually have very similar outlooks: there is always next time/season
I don’t have a wish list, but they know my style and what I already own. If something comes in that is “me,” they will
do their best to offer it. ETA: if people get upset bc they think others are getting offers, then it’s time to stop and reconsider.
It’s not a race or competition.

1000%
None of us really know all the details of others' relationships with H or with their H SAs. What we see on the forum is what that poster chooses to share. We don't know the full picture.

^yesss! I totally agree with you! I’m glad that I found this group online because when my friend and I started our journey at the same time, I was getting frustrated bc I know my spend was higher and yet had no bag offers. My SA came through with a bag that was my dream color. Since then, I learned to control my patience and try not to focus on comparing my journey with others.

Yes patience is key. I think it's a bit in our nature to want things as soon as we decide that we want one. I remember wanting a QB as I decided I wanted to have one, but the anxiousness and frustrations were gone when I got my first offer. I still spend at H but I'm not buying things to get a bag offer. I do overthink my actions sometimes. And I have to laugh about it when I get to think about it.
