Hi, I’m sure this has been asked before but couldn’t readily find an answer on this long(!) thread.

Can SAs view any client’s profile (even if not their own) using their phone, if they so desire? And would that viewable profile include all kinds of personal information like the client’s phone number, home and email address, as well as purchase history, etc.?

Context: an SA knows my name but I don’t want him to look up my spend history at another store - this thought led me down a rabbit hole of wondering whether SAs can browse profiles as they wish, easily look up client’s names and jobs online etc. (not suggesting that SAs would randomly do this, because I’m sure they are busy and have better things to do, but possible in theory?!)

They can, and they do. And they might also do a check before a quota bag offer. According to my SA.

Wait, can we just back up a second? Is the "can and do" here referring to spend history or things like a person's job? I don't really have anything to hide either way, but now I'm curious.
I meant the profile/purchase history. I didn't quite understand the comment about the job myself.... 😬

ETA: sorry if my previous post was confusing. I don’t think your SA is going to look you up on LinkedIn to see what your occupation is.

I don't it's that serious, down to the jobs piece. I don't think Hermes is judging you. Client info is a security issue and the responsibility of the store/corporate.

Does one’s job/career not naturally come up in the course of conversation with one’s SA anyway? My SA knows what I do and what I used to do and what my husband does just from casual conversation…

I agree it does come up naturally, I don't want others to be paranoid that Hermes is judging you based on your job/occupation. Shopping is just not that serious.

That makes sense. QBs aren’t easy to come by. Before presenting your case to the SM they need to know your spend is consistent and loyal to the store/SA (unless agreed otherwise), and not a reseller..

Occupation/employer is voluntary private info.

Wait, i don’t get why it needs to be positioned as asking for a friend 😅 - it really was a random thought that stemmed from my original post’s conext (about an SA knowing my name)... I was like “come to think of it, SAs seem to have access to a lot of personal information on a very specific group of people with a lot of disposable income / high spend potential. If one has a unique name, celeb status, whatever that might trigger an SA’s curiosity, they can look someone up even if she’s not their client?! Hmm, and a simple google search reveals so much about someone these days, they must be able to find out a lot about anyone in the database, if they wish!” That was my thought process.

I didn’t mean to suggest that they would judge you / decide your offers based on your occupation etc. More of a “wow, my personal information (in association with H spend) can be potentially accessed by way more people than I thought?!” speculation moment. Agreed that jobs etc. come up naturally in established SA-client conversations, but I guess I was referring to looser relationships here. I do due diligence / background searches on a lot of people as a part of my job so probably I’m overthinking this lol.

Thanks everyone for chiming in to confirm!

In my job we each have our own clients and a password protected database whereby I can only look up my clients infomation (email, phone, address if they choose to give it, preferences ,spend etc) Nobody in my department can access my clients personal infomation ...if they put the client name in the database say..XYZ..they would get a message saying XYZ is XXXXX's client.
Perhaps the Hermes database may give another SA access to an individuals spend but I would'nt expect it to give much more than that due to data protection laws.

I would assume that Hermes database would be the same.
It’s not. They can pull up any profile by name, phone, or email. When they type in “Smith” it lists every client with the last name Smith and they can click on any and have full access.

In Australia at least, I believe any SA in any store can access my profile, wishlist, spend, sources etc from their phone and I have experienced this in three stores. I have also once modified my wishlist in casual conversation with an SA in another city.
ETA And in Paris last year my SA said she could see QB spend in non-French profiles (although it sounds from various other posts that Paris SAs’ access to profiles globally might be expanding?)

I’ve got to assume they can’t pull up every profile or what they can pull up doesn’t include all the information.

Hermes has a lot of famous and wealthy clients. I cannot imagine allowing access across the SA board to their address and / or phone number (or that of their PA even) would be wise.

I mean, given how little time SAs have, I'd be surprised if they spent hours browsing LinkedIn for random clients' jobs.

While I can’t definitively answer for H, I do know from personal experience this is very much possible at other luxury brands (and retailers in general where you have a customer profile with a specific store). During the early days of the pandemic, an SA I had never worked with at another luxury brand reached out to see how things were going, etc.; they were just pulling profiles of customers who had worked with that particular store and reaching out to maintain contact to stay busy. In all honesty, this worked out well for me (and the SA), since this SA, who has since moved on to another luxury brand, has become my regular SA. But yes, as long as you have a profile with a store, any SA can likely access it, even if they aren’t specifically your SA.

Hi All!

I wanted to ask for some advice. I have an SA that I always make an appointment with every time I shop. I need to possibly exchange something ASAP, it’s a gift and time sensitive, however my SA is away and I don’t want to be a bother on vacation. Would there be any issues if I walked into the store today and asked for someone else to help me, but still put my SA’s name on the sale/exchange? I did reach out to him about it first a little while back, but I think my message got lost, as I’m sure he’s very busy and it’s a small thing.

Thank you in advance!
