Do stores/ SAs ever take 'lifetime spend' into account when making offers, or is only your yearly spend amount taken into consideration? Asking for QBs and non-QB bags. I've shopped at one store with one SA for years (except purchasing in Paris), and I only buy what I love. Purchase history is modestly diverse, having bought jewelry, costume jewelry, shoes, belts, scarves, homeware, and more.

Admittedly, I've never mentioned a wishlist to my SA purely because I believe I would never be considered due to my lower spend amount in comparison to other clients. Inventory at my store was also low for quite some time, so I never bothered...However, if anyone has had any positive experiences, I may have a discussion with my SA next time I drop by.

**I would also mention that I've never been offered a non-QB bag as well.
In Europe your SA can see your total spending during the last 3 years as soon as she/he clicks on your profile.

I'm confused on what you're asking. If you've never gotten a bag from the store before then everything you've spent so far is still accumulating as prespend for your first bag.

If you want a bag just tell your sa you’re interested. What’s the worse that can happen? If you never ask, you never get. That is true in Hermes and in life. Good luck in 2024!

Did you ever ask for a bag? If you are a loyal customer with a good overall spend and you have never bought a bag, I would hope your SA is open to the request and gets you one. I can’t imagine there are a lot of long term customers who have never requested a bag. I would hope she would be delighted by your request.

I personally think that if you’ve never gotten the bag, you have a really high chance, and it doesn’t hurt to ask.

I guess it's my fault that I've always assumed pre-spend "resets" every year? For instance, my total pre-spend for the time I've spent at my home store is probably close to 0.7:1. But that amount is over the course of multiple years, not just one calendar year.

My other assumption is that there are simply too many clients that have a yearly pre-spend that eclipses my total at the store. I'd say my store is pretty competitive.

Evidently I don't really play "the game" much, but I was curious what others' experience and thoughts were.

I would say your spend is very low in most (every) geo to be considered based on spend alone. But perhaps you’ve been an ideal and amiable client and your SA will consider requesting on your behalf. In any event, lots of good advice here to just ask.

Thanks for the insight! I'll give it some thought. Everyone's right, it never hurts to ask!

My SA told me that not every customer wants a bag, so she will not assume. Maybe your SA has the same idea.

I’m sure it will be easier to get a bag this year based on the price increase.

Ask for sure but be thoughtful in your ask not to give a giant laundry list or something so vague you wil get offered something you don’t want. It’s not the highest spend so be sure to ask for what you really want and would buy if offered. If you have a great SA who you have been loyal to, she will probably be happy to get you a bag. Lots of customers aren’t for the long term and SAs do appreciate long term loyalty.

I am sure it will not be “easier” to get a bag this year based on price increase. Those in the market to spend $10000 On a bag will most likely not be too bent out of shape paying $1000 more…..jmo

Hi there! Just started my journey at Hermes and want some advice on the SA relationship:

My husband knows that I've always wanted a Hermes bag. He bought me some things (home and fashion jewelry, a few k) as gifts last month, and was able to start a relationship with an SA. He said that SA was very nice in person. They asked my husband my preferences for bags during the visit. My husband didn't know at the time and said he would ask me. The SA gave him their contact info and told him to text them later.

We texted the SA 2 weeks later to ask if we could go in to try on a different size of the bracelet. (The one my husband got me feels a bit small on me). The SA didn't respond. We texted them again today (about a week after last text) asking if they can arrange a time for us in the next few days. She hasn't responded either. We don't know how we can schedule an appointment with her given that she doesn't respond to our messages.

My husband and I are planning to visit the store on Saturday to shop a bit. We are not sure if we should try to catch the same SA if we see them in the store? We're also thinking to maybe shop with a different SA to see if we click with anyone, but not sure how we should respond if they ask us whether we already have a SA? And if we buy something with a different SA, does it mean we can't go back to the previous SA?

Any advice or insights would be helpful!! thank you.

You can always make an appointment via the online system. You can choose the SA you would like to see.

I totally forgot that there are stores for which you can book online appointments now! Yes you can give that a try if your store is one of them. Not all stores have this service though I think, so if yours doesn’t, give the store a call, and ask for your SA. The SA may be off on the days you sent the text - either their weekly days off or on leave (maybe took some days off after what must have been the craziest time of their year during the holidays season, I have a non Hermes SA who is doing exactly that right now), or simply just too busy and didn’t get to your text - they get a lot, especially since again it sounds like this happened during the holidays season.

Other ideas to try: some SAs may respond better to emails compared to texts especially at the beginning of your relationship so you can also send an email; the email address should be on their card. Maybe also give them a reminder of what you purchased last time to help jostle their memory (very possible that they can’t remember a client who they’ve only seen once just due to the number of clients they see).

ETA: a few thousands I think is not a bad start (in USD I am assuming?) - obviously not for a coveted bag offer yet in general but a good place to keep working with the SA which it sounds like is what you are planning to do - so I’d give this a bit more time and patience before trying to find a new SA, especially if it sounds like your DH had a good time shopping with them. Good luck!
