Hi everyone! Just looking for words of wisdom to keep me grounded/reality check of not taking shopping too seriously lol. So I finally took the plunge and decided to switch SA’s at my store location. I felt like my old SA has a lot of clients that get prioritized first, which is fair since I’m nowhere near clients who spend $5-10k within a month (I’d say I spend that amount over several months). My new SA is someone I noticed is newer to the store, so I’m hoping she won’t have an established client list to help me find RTW, shoes, and other items my size. I just walked in, bought something, and got the new SA’s number. Do you guys think because I didn’t say anything about the switch with a manager or my old SA that it may hurt my profile when it comes to getting items like RTW, shoes, bags, home items?

Fully agree - you can only influence and change your point of view, actions, … and expectations. (Luckily ) we can’t force anyone to act according to our expectations.

Off topic: How fantastic that you had him as a mentor! This must have been very interesting! I have been working for a competitor of BH in one of their larger areas of investments for many years and was always simply fascinated how these two gentlemen build their enterprise.
He was not really an investment mentor, but a legal mentor to many in the LA area. He owned a small legal publication in Los Angeles and would speak at the yearly meeting every February. As a member of the Ca. Bar for over 20 years, I have participated and lately, watched on line, Charlie Munger preside over the meetings. I have never had the guts to go up to him and thank him for all of the great advice and belly laughs over the years. After his recent passing, I thought his rule re: expectations, is a very important one in maintaining a happy, healthy and fulfilling relationship with Hermes.

I personally have never had a wishlist, invariably receive timely responses to all of my texts and only visit the store about 5 times a year. I have also have been blessed with bags I never would have dreamed I would own. Each bag was a complete surprise.

Maybe just have that open and honest conversation with your new SA and tell her the reason why you wanted a change. Explain your concerns and be transparent with her.

That's what I did with my previous SA...I was polite, but certainyly didn't mince my words when I told her I felt like she was too busy for me and I wanted to switch to a different SA who was more "available".

Thank you! I’ll have a talk with the new SA in person then :)

You don’t need to say anything to the old SA or the SM. In fact, i think it makes a mountain out of a molehill if you do say something, even to the new SA. It won’t hurt your profile. You are entitled to shop with anyone you want. You don’t owe an explanation to anyone. When they ring up your bill, they know who you’ve shopped with. Your profile is store specific, not SA specific (I’m speaking from the perspective as a regular client at a US Maison).

ETA: @shopinlovet , if it turns out the chemistry isn’t right with the new SA, it’s absolutely natural and within your rights to continue to try out different ones until you find one you like. The SM will simply regard that as the SA trial period (the SA being on trial, not you, and will simply be glad you have chosen to remain with the boutique.

Thank you for your wisdom! I’m glad to have you guys to talk to about this :)

Don’t worry about going with another SA. I shop with my SA when she’s available but when not and when I walk in. I’m fine with another SA. My SA is fine with that too. The manager also likes it more because they will still get the $ for their store target.

Something I've seen occasionally that I'm curious about... Why do you think H is offering limited edition bags to first-timers?

Somebody on another platform received a Kelly Picto as their first bag
I personally know someone who received a Birkin 3 en 1 as their first bag (I think I read that this happened to someone else on tPF as well).

Definitely not coming from a place of jealousy since these particular bags are not on my wishlist... but I'm curious why H is offering these to newer clients who are not after these bags (my friend didn't know what a 3 en 1 was so certainly didn't request it), versus long-term clients who might be more interested in something different.

Sometimes it depends on the client list that the SA has. If all their long time clients recently picked up offers then it goes to the next eligible client or they will give the bag to the next SA if they cant sell it. Luck is really a thing when it comes to Hermes. However I would suspect a lot of first timers may not want those collectibles as first time bags.

Honestly looking into that poster, I think the offer was fake and that’s a rep.

Boutiques also have sales numbers to meet. I used to get texts from my SA asking if I wanted bag A or bag B, but that I’d have to buy it by the end of day tomorrow as it was month end. Limited edition bags still cost money and meet those monthly/quarterly goals.

That photo... it can be a photo from a reseller and poster claimed that he was offered the bag. Anyone can post a photo of any bag in a box and claim that it is theirs. The bag in the photo is still in the box.

Yes you guys are right, it's totally possible that it's fake!

I think my original question still stands though, since I personally know the person who received the Birkin 3 en 1 as their first offer ever :amuse: The same has been reported by someone else on tPF as well.

My sister was offered the 3 in 1 in Paris as her first QB and during her first Hermes shopping experience in general (along with mini E and mini L), just to add- is it very limited. She also was spelling it Berkin the whole time I was dying haha
