My husband treated me to a B25 from JuliaRoseBoston and I’m so excited to accessorize it.
I’ve made other small Hermes purchases in the past (several Orans, cosmetics) but on on their website. I have an appointment next week to look for some twillys, wallet and hopefully a Pegase. I’m also interested in some belts, shoes and some tableware.
Inevitably they will look up our account and see that we didn’t purchase the Birkin from Hermes but I do plan on bringing my Birkin I hopes to more thoughtfully accessorize it.
Does anyone here have any idea how I should handle this? I don’t want them to think that it’s fake. I also don’t know how SAs feel about preloved bags so I’m worried about being upfront about it. Should I just tell them so was a gift from a family member or would that be even worse? Should I just tell them where I got it?
Sorry if this seems amateur but I would really like to build a sincere connection with an SA and build my Hermes collection over the years to folks. I’d hate to do or say anything that hinders this.
My SA knows I buy pre-owned bags and is always excited to hear about my latest purchases.
I really feel honesty is the best policy especially if you want to form a good SA/Client relationship.
Happy shopping!

That’s such a relief to hear. This will be my first time actually meeting and working with an SA and I don’t have plans to try to acquire any more quota bags since I now have my perfect dream bag. I’m hoping the fact that I’m not after any quota bags will help me build a solid relationship since I’m sure SAs much get overwhelmed and maybe even frustrated with quota bag requests.
This is why we bought brand new from a reseller. I’m definitely a dessert first kinda girl and I feel already having my dream bag takes off a lot of pressure for me and my figure SA. Now I can just purchase the million other things I want from Hermes.
I super appreciate your help and I agree that honesty is probably the best policy in this case. And if they’re turned off that I bought preloved then we probably aren’t a good match.

Is there a process to being assigned an SA formally? I made my first purchase in store last week of a few ties + SLG as gifts for friends and family.

i didn’t grab contact info when I checked out - had a list of things on my mind.

Was told no by the store in a roundabout way when I followed up later. Am I missing something about H that I need to jump through hoops to get an SA officially?

I have SAs at higher end stores that text / email as necessary and am confused that commission SAs would ever do/say something like this.

Maybe this is certain stores being “ultra competitive” but I’m contemplating having my first H purchase be my last.

You just need to ask the SA helping you for their card/contact info. Usually they offer them proactively anyway but if not just ask (the SA, not the store). Don’t take it personally

Can you explain a little more about the no you received from your follow up? Without more context, I think it’s probably harmless. The next time you’re thinking about going look at the receipt for the SA’s name and inquire whether s/he has availability for an appointment.

Maybe a miscommunication but the SA called back and said no + mentioned one of the items would be shipped and arrive soon.

I’m not sure if my phone reception was poor but I was confused at the entire exchange. I’m low maintenance and the transaction in store was friendly and brief.

There was no SA name on my receipt hence the follow up

Is your own name on the receipt?

The SA said no they couldn’t give you their contact info? :wtf: There could be any number of reasons for this, but I’d suggest simply shopping with a different SA next time, or even different SAs over a few visits to find one you work well with and who offers you their card proactively or is willing to give their contact info when you ask.

Would you mind sharing which location you shop at? Approaches vary.

Just chiming in with my experience - I started shopping at H more in earnest in March; prior to then I'd just popped in for a small one-off item from time to time and didn't work with a dedicated SA. As part of my first "larger" trip this spring, the SA ordered for me online a few scarves that weren't available in-store. Though I didn't have her number, I kind of just assumed she and I would be working together going forward, but when the scarves arrived, a different SA phoned me to coordinate pick-up, and she and I have been working together since. I haven't thought too too hard about it, but assumed that the SA who helped me initially didn't have bandwidth for new clients and linked me up with my current SA.

So, maybe the arrival of your item will be the catalyst for an exchange of contact info?

No - a mobile machine was used for checkout…similar to what restaurants use (handheld register if you will)
Usually for first time customer in the country, SA will ask you to set up a profile. If you did so, your name and the SA’s name will appear on the receipt. Since yours did not happen this way, I think you don’t have a profile set up.

It’s also no surprise that SA do not want to give contact as you seem to be a 1 time or occasional customer. There is no need to be offended…this SA might not serve you well anyway. Probably too many customers and low stock situation caused the SA not wanting a new customer.

Do not be disappointed, hopefully the right SA will come along.
I have been buying over a number of years, mainly smaller items like scarves, and did not have a specific SA for a very long time, as I would just drop by when I saw something being released that I liked. I finally found an SA that was helpful and after a few months, she moved into an admin role, so was back to square one again.
About a year ago, I finally met the best and super helpful SA, who I clicked with and actually enjoy visiting, and she has been the first one that is pro-active to even look up whether we will even get certain stock in.
Good luck!

This is what alarms me. Doesn’t my “pre-spend” not count for much until I’m assigned a SA?

prespend is with a store, not an SA. Next time you are at the store, you could ask whoever is helping you if you have an acct set up with a particular SA. it may take a few visits to find an SA that you feel comfortable with anyway. Many do not want to take on new clients bc there has been such low stock that they cannot meet the needs of their current clientele.
