Today my SA texted me the below after a few more casual scarf purchase

“If I were to get you a Birkin or kelly, could you make a trip in to pay?”

i am in the mid west and my store is at vegas. She knows i have a trip plan in October but she was wondering if i would be willing to make a trip if i was offered. Anyone has advice and tip on how to navigate these offer when you are far away?

i have a 6yo so it will be hard to arrange last min trip...

That is a direct question and just give the answer that you outlined here:
Yes, you could make the trip to pay and you will are planning to visit Vegas later in the year.
At the moment your personal circumstances mean that you are not in a position to travel without careful planning. You appreciate the question. You hope that your SA will be able to offer you a B or K (that you would wish to buy) in October.

October is only six months away.

Omg that is beautifully worded ty!

I have a feeling that she will try her best for me to get one in October.... but at the same time i am having FOMO

Sounds to me like your SA has something ready to offer you but the condition is, as it always pretty firmly was (in the USA) before covid, that quota bags must be picked up in person by the account holder. Your SA likely doesn’t want to go through the effort of getting you approved if you ultimately wouldn’t be able to pick it up anyway. I’d just be honest and say that you either can travel (and mean it), or tell them no, you cannot travel there currently but that you expect to be in town next on date X. These are the unfortunate perils of long distance H shopping. :(

Thank you. I always appreciate your POV from the SA. I did mention that if it is a bag i love i would try my best to travel. But i can see like you mentioned that how she doesn’t want to get me approved if i am not firm.

i guess i will try my luck in October

bright side is that i know my SA’s willingness to keep me in mind for a quota bag

I was in my boutique today and asked my SA what advice she would give to someone who was looking to establish a good relationship with an SA. She said someone who understood the quality and history of the brand and who was good humored were the things she felt were the most important things. She said she would give preference to someone who spent less, but really understood the Hermes commitment to quality and the brand.
It sounds like you are doing everything correctly, and letting your SA know what you would like, that it would be a special present for your anniversary or your retirement, and giving her plenty of time. Plus, you describing her as very nice lady is indicative of how you work with her. I'm sure she will do her best to obtain your special bag for you.

Thanks so much for letting me know. That’s very hopeful

Thanks so much for the support. Unfortunately, If I ever did get a Kelly it would be either 25 or 28 Togo retourne in the classic colours black deep blue or tan with GHW. I’m not too tall and I usually carry medium sized bags. I love the look of the Togo retourne. I am actually at purse peace which is why I even thought about going to the Hermes store. My SA is truly a very nice lady. She calls me back whenever I email her. Even though I always tell her I’m not in any rush. I think it helps being older LOL. I told her I’m retiring in two years and that’s my year for getting a Kelly. She was so sweet about it. Or my 40th wedding anniversary end of this year. In the meanwhile there is always window shopping in the Pf. So much eye candy.
I am sure something will definitely come up for your anniversary, especially with your approach :flowers::heart:

I'm new to Hermes, so hope the seniors will chip in. I just went to the store to collect an item I reserve from my SA, it's only my 2nd visit. Unfortunately, I was late for 15 minutes and my SA was tied with a customer. She asked her SM to serve me and I also bought a belt. When she asked if I want to see any other things, I declined as I have another appointment. I said I will make an appt with my SA the next time to look at some jewelry, the SM's eye seemed to light up and ask if I want to see it now, but I still declined as I thought besides having an appointment, I should try to remain loyal to my SA. Now I am wondering am I being silly since my SA only serve me one time and wonder I will annoy the SM, and whether it will affect my chance to get a birkin.. On the other hand, I heard SM not supposed to have customers, so I think I am right not to buy high commission items from her? Somemore, the SM didn't give me her namecard, so I think I am right to continue to purchase from my SA?

Also, I am now wondering if the purchases I made are under my SA... Sigh...my fault for being late. Should I ask my SA?

Have a look at your receipt for the belt. It will have the name of the person who got credit under the item description. I predict it will be your original SA. The SM has a vested interest in the store making sales so I am guessing what you saw was not the SM’s desire for commission on the sale but just the store making the jewelry sale in general. Continue working with the SA (not SM)

I really hope that's the case...I've unfortunately been refusing almost everything he tries to show me (or if I don't, they literally don't have it in my size anywhere), but then ask for weird obscure stuff that he has to search high-and-low to find, which I'm sure is just a new type of annoyance for him.

For example: I've asked him to order some Men's Competition Boots and matching "Mini-Chaps" (which make them look like knee-high boots) only available in Europe, a seemingly very-hard-to-find Attache Soie bag strap kit, and some Twillions (which they stopped carrying in SF due to low-demand). I also asked him for a nice vase in the "Passifolia" or "Carnets d'Equateur" lines. AND I haven't yet told him that I'm interested in the Clic H 33 bag seemingly only available in Asia.

I'm also pressuring him into getting France to make me some Story Boots in Rouge H...in size 45, which they don't make.

He actually does know that I'm interested in a Kelly 40 in Craie Epsom to go with my Harnachement Strap in Rouge H Epsom (another item I asked him to find/order)....and I casually dropped the fact that I hope to be a good enough customer to be offered a chance at a Kelly Feather one day. So there are at least two quota bags I'm interested in, I guess, but I'm definitely not in a rush or asking him about them at all.

I think it might be his amazing relationship with my husband that actually keeps him talking to me LOL!

I think you’re overthinking it. I bet that he and the SM adore you in trying to get you the hard to get stuff. It adds spice to their day. Our SA only offers us quota bags but when we ask for other items she jokes with us with comments like “great, you’re making me do work. The bags sell themselves but now I have to find other things to make you happy”. I know she loves it.

From personal experience, she is asking whether you could make the trip in by the end of month so that the purchase can go towards the boutiques sales numbers back to corporate. I’ve received calls on the last day of the month whether I wanted X, Y or Z and could come in that day if so. She knows that I’m in Sales and “get it”

Thanks! The name on the receipt doesn't looks like my SA's name, so I couldn't resist to ask my SA. Luckily, she said I'm her customer so the sales are under her name.. Thanks so much for your insight, I think you are right. The SM should be thinking about the store's sale and that also explains why she didnt give me a namecard.. Whew.. relief.. And yes, I will continue to work with my SA.

Right i understand that. I will just worry about it when the opportunity presents itself. I have a few RTW and jewelry items that is in my list with her, so i am sure my SA and i will able to maintain a relationship before my oct trip

i had thought about going a pick up trip by myself if needed to and it is easier to plan that trip on a whim, but it is so much more fun to go Vegas with DH. Haha

I am from the US too. After each birkin/kelly purchase I was told by my sales associate that I have to purchase a certain amount (and around half that amount must be non leather goods) in order to qualify for being offered another birkin or
Kelly. Your previous purchases before u purchased the last birkin or kelly don't really count towards the next bag. I would suggest working with one sales associate at one store especially if the SA has to meet certain sales quotas before they can offer u another bag rather than spreading out purchases
over two sales associates at different boutiques (unless one of those stores can offer u a birkin without having to spend as much).
Does the amount reset when we get the B/K or does it reset every year regardless? If I make a purchase in October 2020 and then something in March 2021. Does the October purchase count?
