When I am browsing on vacation, I am pretty careful not to take up a lot of time of an SA there if I am not planning to buy from him/her, or if I have texted my SA about getting the item sent. Just something to consider.
Right... that vacation store never replied me about my appointment after a week, so most likely won’t happen...

If you see something you really want, I think you should buy it when you can.
You don't have any obligation to inform your SA of your travel/browsing/shopping plans.
By all means contact your SA and see if he or she can get what you want for you in your regular store.
If you are in your store, there would be nothing lost by running the idea of seeing if you SA would be prepared to do that for you past your SA.
Any decent SA will understand that the full range of Hermes products is not available everywhere.
In a strange way, by buying something you like when you see it elsewhere, shows more enthusiasm for the brand than sticking slavishly to one store. That is what Hermes wants to see if you aspire to goods that are not easy to come by.
I agree with this. In fact the SAs at my local boutique (which whom I have built a relationship over many years) know that I travel a lot (pre-Covid, sigh) & when travelling visit H-stores around the world. They encourage me to buy anything I see that I want - actually advising that "if you see it & like it, then buy it" as our country is a relatively small market globally & local Hermes may not have the item left/ordered it at all/ordered it in that colourway/etc. I suppose it's easier for me as I don't buy bags so I'm not trying to build my profile.

hi! i'm new to hermes and went into the Boston store to buy a home item and was assigned an SA. since then i've texted back and forth a bit with my SA about some pairs of shoes I'm interested in. my SA is not great at responding and I'll often have to ping him again to follow up on requests because he will not answer the first time. there have also been a couple times where he said he would follow up with me but forgot. I'm sure SA's are busy right now but I'm just wondering if this is normal? should I stick with this SA or try to change? I want to build a good relationship with my SA and am just worried that this SA is forgetting about me?
other question: I totally understand that I need a purchase history to be considered for a B or K but I'm wondering is is "gauche" to mention it/bring up my wishlist? Or should I just go to Hermes and develop a purchase history and hope I am asked by my SA what my wishlist is? Either way I intend on building a purchase history - I'm really just wondering if I should wait for my SA to bring up quota bags.

The longer you are with your SA and the more you spend at your home store, the more access you will get and the faster your responses will be. Initially, especially if you have not spent a lot, you will likely not get a lightning fast response from your new SA. If you want a quota bag from your SA and are going to buy home items, I highly recommend you do it with the SA you’re intending to build a relationship with. If you want a quota bag, tell your SA.

If one is not trying to build a profile to buy a quota bag it is fine to shop wherever. It’s very hard to walk into a boutique as a new customer and get a quota bag, so for folks that really want a B/K/C, and do not want to spend a fortune getting it, the general advice is build a relationship at home. However, it does depend on rarity and spend. If one travels frequently and routinely spends large amounts at various H boutiques around the world then yes, there isn’t really a pressing need to have loyalty with a home boutique SA, as any one of the vacation stores would likely make an offer to a visitor after a 2:1 purchase in a visit.

Honestly I dont know how much more he wants me to purchase. If it’s that hard to get the first bag, i wonder how hard it will be to get a second bag.

I just think that he’s happy to make his commission but not planning to get me any bags.

@Cutie_angel8823 your old SA just seems to want to make a sale and maybe "drag" you alont a little bit to purchase more? but I am glad you found a SA that you click with

Thanks for this advice! Do people have thoughts on the appropriate amount of time to wait before following up with your SA? This may be a common sense thing but I just want to make sure my SA gets my requests but I don’t want to bother them because I know they’re busy!

Yup, definitely felt like I have been played.

Yes, i found another SA that I really like. I had to declined the constance since it wasn’t in the leather that I like. I only want to buy something that I truly love, and not just because it is a hard to get bag.

I’m glad I decided to switch and now just patiently waiting for my dream bag.

It seems as if you had been played.
But haven't you now changed store and found an SA who offered you a Constance?

Some SAs in stores have been working one week off, one week on. So be patient in general. I get texts from my SA when he is not working, but I’m not sure that would have been the case when I first became a client.

If you’re in another store on vacation and you send your SA a text about an item, be specific about when you’ll make a decision. “Hi, I’m on vacay and saw xyz at xyz store. Before I buy it here tomorrow morning/this afternoon/after dinner this evening, I wanted to see if you would prefer to get it for me there at home. Look forward to your thoughts, blah, blah, blah...

This may be semantics, but you should be specific about your request too.
I can see that asking you SA if he/she would 'prefer' to get an item for you is a soft or gentle way to make your request. Surely the phrase 'be able to' would be better; agreement would confirm the commitment and ability to get you what you want.

If a SA wants the custom he/she would surely prefer to get the item for you, but there is no guarantee.
'I'm sorry. I tried, but I couldn't. (then add all the valid or feeble reasons imaginable)

Hi everyone, long time lurker, first time poster.

I have a question for people who had a relationship with their SA prior to the pandemic. I started shopping at Hermes in September 2020 (Beverly Hills store), so I had to make an appointment and was assigned a SA. We have a good relationship and he already got me my dream bag so I would like to continue our fortuitous relationship when things get back to "normal." My question is, when the by-appointment-only shopping stops, how do I continue shopping with him? Did the SAs do appointments in pre-pandemic times so you could shop with them specifically or do I just drop by and hope he's free? I'm probably talking about at least a year ahead here, but the thought crossed my mind recently. Thank you in advance.

Yes, absolutely, SAs do appointments pre-COVID too. If you have his number or email, you can message him to arrange an appointment. Otherwise you can call the shop and request an appointment with him. I actually prefer this over just dropping in unexpectedly, as it ensures your SA won’t be busy with someone else during your appointment slot.

How long does it take him to reply? Many SAs are working reduced schedules and cannot answer on their off days even though you are texting them. Also, have you actually purchased anything or are you just expressing interest in items? Knowing the answer to these questions will help with my response.

Just at the moment, until relatively normal in store shopping is resumed, you should not be concerned purchase histories and wish lists. In the circumstances you describe, it is "gauche".
I just wondered what you meant by
i've texted back and forth a bit with my SA about some pairs of shoes I'm interested in
Unless you were specifically asking for your SA to source something in a particular size with a view to you buying, at the present time if I were the SA I would regard the texts as a nuisance and not want to encourage you to send more.
It would be so different if you were going to be able to pop in next week and look at them.
