In short, yes. Especially for new customers, if you don't meet 1:1 in a year, it will expire and you will have to start all over again. But as other TPF members have mentioned above, SMs and SAs can waive this (and usually will) for their long term customers. Stores also might be more relaxed about this now since revenues are down.

Does the 1 year start from Jan-Dec or from the first purchase? I've only started spending in May this year. Should I be worried?

Oh. Well then...I'm not sure if I should talk to my SA about this or not now. I'm very close to 1:1 but at the same time I've not been offered a bag yet. I see my SA about every 2-3 weeks so I don't know if I should ask them about this...
It's only September, so there's still plenty of time until the end of the year. But if you don't hear anything from your SA by mid-November, better sit him/her down and just ask what the plan is.

As always, location for these practices seems to be highly relevant. I do not AT ALL believe that spend expires at any time, end of the calendar year or not, in the USA.

has anyone tried creating two profiles at two different stores to increase the chances of a quota bag? Would the SAs be able to tell that you're shopping at two places versus being loyal to just one?

Your company-wide profile will automatically be used at all stores within a single country and all SAs within that country will be able to see all purchases (including internet) made within that country. This will likely reduce bag offer opportunities as each store will assume you will get offers from the other store and not see you as a priority.

What @acrowcounted said.

This only works if you're shopping regularly in two (or more) countries where profiles aren't connected. (And lots of talk around certain EU stores already being connected, and eventually all EU stores being connected, for example.) And in that scenario, you're not really increasing your chances for a quota bag, per se -- more like spending more to buy more quota bags overall since each store will still have its own spend expectations in order to offer you a quota bag.

I’m trying to read through this whole thread but I’m not a fast reader. Already learned a lot from what I’ve read so far. Apologize in advance if this has already been asked, but do SAs usually know what’s coming in the next shipment or the next few shipments as far as b/k/c bags are concerned? Do SMs share with SAs what s/he has ordered during podium order? Thanks!

At my store, my SA knows what's been ordered -- there is also a binder of items ordered and in my experience people's names have been written next to items as interested in the item. They do no know when and what will arrive though. Things get shipped to them and they know when they open the boxes.

thank you for this info! Is this a US store?

I’m in the US and curious if wallets count towards the spend to help meet the 1:1. I have been told yes by some and no by others (not from the store just other ladies I know that have been offered bags). I am looking to purchase a bearn wallet in croc and would like it go towards my spend.

A Bearn wallet in croc will definitely help your profile. Better than a similarly priced fine jewelry bracelet? No. Better than an Epsom leather Bearn wallet? Yes.
