That’s interesting about the Madeleine. I thought the clasp was just a snap under the silver bar/logo thing, so to hear it’s difficult to use is disappointing.

To open the Madeleine, you push in the little plunger button on the side of the bamboo clasp.

I found closing it more difficult. You have to get the hole on the underside of the bamboo clasp to meet up with the little rod sticking out from the base of the bag. But since it’s a top handle bag that gapes open, you kind of need to have one hand underneath the bottom to push up and support the bag during the closing process. Or just put it down on a table to do it.

As an aside I tried out the Madeleine clasp IRL today for the first time and hated it. Way more difficult than the Mademoiselle. Plus the bag is heavy because of the thick bull leather. A no for me.

The Madeleine is a no for me too. I find that with the thick stiff flap, it's just a bag that naturally shuts instead of staying open because the flap meets along a line at the top and can't be flopped easily to stay open.

A Khaki Mademoiselle? [emoji7] I already had to fiddle with the Mademoiselle opening in the boutique for some time before my SA stepped in to assist and agree it does take some time to get used to.

Maybe I'm strange but I don't find the clasp a problem. Maybe practice makes perfect! *Enabler hint haha :D

The mini Madeleine is so pretty to look at, and I love the honey color for spring. But I always find top handle bags problematic. Even when worn crossbody as shown below, I think the bottom half would flop down when open and you'd need to support it with your hand on the bottom to look into the bag or close it back up. That's just too fussy for me.

That sheep fur sure looks lux and lush! Better than calf fur that sometimes looks sparse

Yes great minds think alike. Calf hair/calf fur can look bald and shed over time, but this sheep seems more stable to me. *fingers crossed* I briefly considered this other Mademoiselle below (which is calf hair) although it has been sold out for a while anyway.

Thanks for the detailed tutorial! I’m on my way to the boutique this afternoon, so will have to check it out and see how it feels. This is super helpful!

Happy shopping! Looking forward to your report.

Hi! Well, they didn’t have any Madeleine bags for me to try. My local boutique is pretty small, so I think they were holding some stuff back in order to have all the sale things out. Plus, the manager I know wasn’t in today, so it was kind of a bust. I’ll be back in town in a few days, so will probably try again then.

Haha! :graucho: Thank you ladies. I really do recommend checking it out in person if you can. It's a great mid size bag and very versatile. I can see myself carrying it on a big European vacation (or even a weekend trip to NYC) and wearing it crossbody by day and by the short handle at night.
Are you still loving your grey Mademoiselle? I ordered one on Nordstrom for half off so hoping I will love it when it arrives :)
I agree the bag sits well on the hip. I notice the width when the bag is over my shoulder using the short strap, but not when using the long strap. The leather is thick enough not to lose structure, but soft enough that it doesn't feel hard against my hip.

I guess structurally, it does resemble LV's Pochette Metis. With apologies to LV fans, I actually think the Mademoiselle bag is more luxurious because of the quality of the leather and the nice touches with hardware and the wax seal. But I'm biased!

I used mine today for the first time and really enjoyed it. The only downside I can think of is that the clasp will take some getting used to since it's the first bag I've had with a clasp like that. I do love having the back pocket for my phone!
Are you still loving your Mademoiselle? I would love to know how it wears over time!

Hi! I do still love it, but have not worn it much lately because I tend to wear black/dark colored bags during the winter, so this probably won’t come back into regular rotation until spring. So I can’t really say how it wears over time because it hasn’t been used heavily yet. What I can say is it feels very durable and well-made. I’ve had several Longchamp leather bags over the years and they’ve all worn really well, so I expeck this one will too. HTH!

Thank you for the feedback! Yours hasn't started to look like that wrinkled up one someone got from Nordstrom in a big box though right?
