I *totally* miss Marshall Field's. Now that was a class A department store. And to be replaced by Macy's?  :yucky:

*sigh* I second that... Field's had alot of class and just an aire of elegance when you walk in there...

Macy's feels trashy compared to Field's... (Please note I am not saying anyone is trashy if they shop there, I am comparing what the stores feel & look like.) The first thing they did at the Field's around where I lived (at the time in the Chicago suburbs) was hang TV monitors at every entrance & in every department!! TACKY!! We get it!! You're watching....

To be honest, I used to shop at Field's all of the time... since it has changed to Macy's I usually just do a quick lap around the shoe department and get out as quickly as possible... I've only purchased 1 thing since the change-over last year, a pair of Coach shoes marked down to $100... I felt bad even doing that, but I couldn't pass up a pair of shoes that fit perfectly and at such a low price....

Good luck with your situation. Confirms my choice to shop at Nordstroms.

Unfortunately Macy's was an upgrade around here. The stores around here were Kaufmann's before, and while they started off nice, they started to look trashy with the clothes just thrown on the shelves in a pile and floors that could use a good vacuuming...

I've actually not had any problems with Macy's. I hope that continues!

Customer Service sometimes really stinks, but in order to get what you want you have to keep asking for their boss or call back and talk to someone who will comply. If you insist that you are not going to take anything less, usually they will honor it. And they usually say "Just this one time"...but, in your case it wasn't your fault and you shouldn't have to pay a penny!
