When Napoleon assumed the title of Emperor of the French in 1852, his wife hired Louis Vuitton as her personal box-maker and packer.

Louis Vuitton left home at the age of 13 to walk 300+ miles to Paris.

His rectangular trunks are thought to be the beginning of modern luggage.

His orginal shop in Asnieres was destroyed during the Franco-Prussian war.

Months later he built his shop on 1 Rue Scribe and began to focus more on luxury items.

I don't know if this has already been said, but the first name of Keepall was "Tien-tout" (french for keep all).
And the Mini Hl was named after Henry Louis, one of Vuitton's nephew; the bag was created for him in order to carry his pencils. :)

I was at this big store and they were selling what i think are class a fake lv bags. They told me it was the same as the original and that it cant be burned. She really lit some match and hovered it over the canvas and it really didnt burn. Is it true? The original lv canvas wont get burned? Been wanting to ask that!

From the book "Icons": In 2002 Robert Wilson conjured for Louis Vuitton a series of Christmas windows in psychedelic colors, whose spirit was echoed in a limited edition collection of leather goods. On this occasion he became the only person who has ever been authorized to modify the shape of the Monogram.

Great thread. Hope it continues to refresh.
