I would like a "made in USA" item, as they are not available here, and I wouldn't be concerned one bit about anything "Made in India", indeed, it would be something to add to the collection!

One of the reasons I like LV is their craftmanship, and I rely on the company to make sure that is the same where ever they decide to manufacture their bags.

You are the one that started confrontation with the insults by quoting my comment regarding another person's point of view and totally toke it out of context. Not only that. You laughed at me.

Now you have the audacity to write this comment to end what you started in the first place with "Let's get back to Louis Vuitton bags."

I have nothing to comment. You are a waste of time. Next time you pick a fight with me. You better have your facts straight.

WOW!

Anyone can read my posts, and then read yours, and see exactly what type of people each of us are. I'll leave it to the people reading them to decide who is close-minded and who is not.

I doubt if there are many on the forum who hold the opinion that LVs made in the US are "knock-offs" when they are made by LV.

By the way, I don't think Americans are "asinine anglo-saxons," but if that is your opinion, I guess it speaks to your open mind. I imagine any "American" on the board probably feels a tad insulted by that, so it might be best to keep the insults out of the posts, if you can. That is exactly what I was talking about. Racial slurs, derrogatory comments about specific countries and peoples.

Let's get back to Louis Vuitton bags, and try to keep the prejudicial insults out of the threads, please. It is not appropriate to be throwing racial or other slurs at countries around on the boards.

pinkiwhatever: I don't think you are an anglo-saxon (asinine or otherwise:p)...I would hazard a guess that you are an Asian-American.

Medhavini, Not even. Native Saskatchewan descent with diluted European blood and of Monogolian descent. I am a Native American. And yes, I am asinine, sorry to say because I allow a horrible PFer call me racist.

Pinkiwhatever99: I have never heard of Monogolian? I love Mongolia though, I wish I can visit that country some day seems such a very tranquil place!

puteri, I don't think you want to be from a nomadic tribe and ride a camel in an arid desert. Travelling is great it enriches our minds. Not a good environment for purse lovers. J/K

I just called a spade a spade in terms of comments directed toward a country and people. I would think being American Indian that you would be personally cognizant of the issues and sadness caused by prejudice.

I have no quarrel with you on a personal level, other than I found the posts distasteful and demeaning to people on the forum who are of East Indian descent, as evidenced by the private messages I received, thanking me for standing up for them.

I merely asked for more empathy on the board for people who are offended by these kinds of comments.

So, again - Let's get back to Louis Vuitton bags! LOL!

I think both pinkiwhatever99 and charleston-mom have good points:p and I agree 99% with both of you lol.
It's true that if you rip off the made in _____ label, you or anyone else will not be able to differentiate between 2 LV bags made from 2 diff countries. However, I also support pinki cuz buying LV to start with IS A PERSONAL CHOICE. We coulda bought from gucci and chanel, but we choose LV, so it seems logical for me that some people also have different preferences for their made in ______ label.
I really don't think that this preference is by any means trying to descriminate against another country. Like in my first post, I said that if you've always preferred LV bags to be made in France, then it's perfectly acceptable. Prejudice, descrimination, and racism only start if you usually don't care where LVs are made, then all of a sudden at the sight of made in India, you become inconsistent with your thoughts, bash this country, and become selective in the country of fabrication.

CEV.LV4eva - Thanks for that insight you provided in your post. I have to wonder though, if word got around that LV is made in India, would the mainland Chinese people like those you referred to be as quick to shun the brand as quickly as they embraced it?
Ummm... I would say no right now because these youngsters whom I hang out with are only interested in the big price factor. As long as their purchase on the front says LOUIS VUITTON, CHANEL, GUCCI, HERMES...etc then all's fine, cuz most of them are......."uneducated" (and I hate saying this), don't know much of English so can't really read where things are made (except for "made in China" products that they run away from lol) and most importantly, they DON"T CARE about the details.
I find their psychology is like this: "I'm rich so I can do/buy whatever I want". When we go out shopping (actually I don't shop, I observe them lol), all I see is that they POINT to an item on display, examine it for 1 min or so, no picking, nod (meaning I'll take it) and point to a few more things lol. I was actually talking with my SA here in Montreal, Canada and she noticed the SAME THING! lol From my point of view, there's rarely any verbal interaction because in China, SAs are considered to be a pretty low job... and being the all high and mighty rich customers, they tend to look down at them. So in retrospect, I kinda understand why some SAs appear to be 'snobby' and unfriendly, it's cuz that's the usual treatment they get from some customers and I'm told that they don't talk much because some customers find it annoying.....
I would prefer not to be quoted, or have people here on this forum think that every Chinese person behaves in this manner because I'm only basing 'my facts' on 5-10 youngsters which is NOT A REPRESENTATIVE sample of the population.

Huh uh... Whatever!!!

You're the only one making prevaricating comments. This is your direct quote:

That is the same reason I don't buy made in USA if at all possible. I don't mind items manufactured in Spain or Italy.

QUOTE charleston-mom: This made me laugh.

Do you honestly feel that your product made in Spain or Italy is that much better quality than one made in the U.S.? I bet if we took the tags off, for any of them, you would not be able to tell any difference whatsoever.

Unfortunately... Yes, I can tell the difference! Not directly related to the topic of the OP's thread.

I just called a spade a spade in terms of comments directed toward a country and people. I would think being American Indian that you would be personally cognizant of the issues and sadness caused by prejudice.

I did not say I was an American Indian. Your assumption again.

I totally agree CEClv4eva!

The thing that I was reacting to was comments saying that the bags were fine from every country except India. It's the tone also, if you read through the threads, some of the tone in some of these posts are just awful.

I would never repeat what people sent to me in private messages, in confidence, except that it is true that there were some people who were deeply offended - so I know it wasn't just me that was getting that kind of a feel for some of these posts.

Some of these posts (and not all and not even most), but some are just really offensive. It's not just saying I prefer my bag to be from so and so. It's singling out this one country and extremely derrogatory. That's so sad to me.

I think if one went back, and in their heart, pretended that they were from India and re-read any one of the 4 threads that touch on this topic, you could see where the pain comes from.

The vast majority of the posters are wonderful, empathetic and warm people and I am so thankful that we have such wonderful people on the board. It's a shame that there are a few that post, perhaps not to really be mean, but without thinking of how things may sound. I think too, it's hard on a written forum, to always ferret out tone too, so sometimes things sound worse than the person means them - to give the benefit of a doubt.
