LV Lovers - when do you buy new and when do you buy preloved?

I bought a pre loved speedy becasue I am planning on having it custom painted by an artist - a tribute to a dearly beloved horse I had who passed in a tragic accident. The artist helped me design the image. I did not want to do this to a brand new bag and the design itself lends itself to a more vintage look.
I purchase pre loved also becasue I prefer the quality of the older bags and I do prefer the vintage canvas. I also like patina and frankly I am not so good at caring for my bags. In addition, it lets me buy more. I am NOT at all sensitive to smells, AND I am a smoker. It works for me :)

I never buy pre-loved. Other people’s damage would bother me. I also have asthma and scent sensitivity so there is no way I could cope with a bag that smells in some way.

Nothing wrong with pre-loved it’s just not for me.

I buy new from brand store.
Every designer bag, wallet, etc.
Including lv.

Others are free to trust online authentications & sellers promoted by tpf with clicky links.
Go for it, wahoo for you!
But I live in paranoid bubble of reality, where Gandalf does not magic-away hungry trolls from innocent hobbits.
So my shopping is more careful.

I much prefer new. Authenticity isn’t a concern and it builds my sales with my CA.

Yep. If I'm spending money on a luxury item, I'm getting the luxury experience.

If a bag has been discontinued? Oh well. If it wasn't in store and my SA can't get it for me, then I wasn't meant to have it. Besides, there will always be something else down the line that I want to have, so I see no need in getting hung up over a bag to the point that I'm searching for a used one.

Preloved on reputable sites, because that's what I can afford right now. It also helps with not being as scared to break in the bag! ;)
I am considering purchasing a new SLG in the near future though. Woop!

I buy preloved every chance I get because it cost less money. That’s my bottom line on handbags. I own 4 preloved LV’s. All but 1 looked new upon buying. The savings help me buy my new slg’s.

Also I have taken financial hits on selling bags that I purchased new. I’ve yet to take a financial loss when reselling a bag I bought preloved.

what sites would you recommend (other than ebay) on pre-loved bags?

I’ve bought from the real real and I didn’t enjoy my experience. I have purchased from Fashionphile and have been very satisfied. I like that you can return a bag for up to 30 days after purchase. The real real doesn’t allow returns on bags. They do a good job with the description and the pictures too.

I wore my preloved petit noe yesterday shopping. Went to LV and purchased a speedy 30 DE for my birthday. When I got home I saw that I had blue dye transfer from my jeans on the bottom vachetta of my noe. If it were a new bag I’d be really upset but as it’s not new and I didn’t pay full price I’m ok with it. When I get back from my trip I’ll work on getting it off. In the meantime I pulled out my new speedy to use!

I have shopped once on Yoogi's Closet and had a nice experience. You can also return the bag/item if you want.
You can also get notifications if certain items come in.. You can do a search and then save the search (even if you don't have an account with them). That's how I found my discontinued Cabas Piano

I have four pre-loved LV's. I love that all were hardly ever even worn by the previous owners so they all were in pristine condition. I truly believe that vintage bags had more substantial hardware and canvas which was important to me.
