LV and the quality

My older bags are absolutely of a better quality! But I still think it's pretty good, apart from the emilie wallet which I'm having a total nightmare with!

Oh no! What kind of issues are you having with your Emilie? Is it relatively new? A friend of mine who I'm introducing to LV is considering that one as an entry piece, plus her name is Emily! Should I convince her to get something else? It looks like the Sarah to me which holds up pretty well...

The first one I had had stretched pockets and was out of shape. The second one had a bit of glazing that stuck out, was sharp and got caught to everything, even the dust bag. Here's a pic, although you can't see it much... ImageUploadedByPurseForum1390086649.458577.jpg

I'm still waiting for another one though because I love it. It's much thinner and lighter than the Sarah, hence the lower price :) hope that helps!

The speedy 30 I purchased brand new in 2012 does not seem as well made as my sister's older style. I really baby mine. I bought the red josephine wallet in 2013, and love love love it! I bought a pre-loved batignolles last year too (made in 2007) and LOVE it more than my speedy. If you are concerned but want a LV, I'd purchase a preloved.

I have several older pieces such as ,the Cite Gm , Alma PM and a Spontini . I also have an older Pouchete and a Tresor wallet and truthfully everything held up great except the Spontini . It was a newer piece and it just did not hold up . The canvas split and that was that , a waste of money . I don't mistreat my bags in any way . It seems to me the canvas is a lot thinner now and I'm hesitant to make another purchase . But still I love LV ,crazy ,right.

I am getting ready to purchase my first LV the Montaigne MM in Empriente leather after reading this I am wondering if I should put down $3,500 on a handbag that is not such great quality. Do y'all think the it's worth it?

Sadly, I will never again purchase an LV product due to the declining quality and steadily increasing price point. The leather goods manager at my local LV left for another luxury goods retailer (taking several sales associates with her) due in part to the shoddy "craftsmanship." She no longer felt comfortable representing the brand. Also, $2k to $4k for a Monogram canvas bag? Really? At those prices, one should look into Hermes, but even that company (the last bastion of quality) is no longer what it used to be. Hermes has caught the $$$ bug and is trying to meet demand by increasing production. One cannot sustain both high volume sales and a high attention to detail and quality. Something, inevitably, has to give.

Hello .. 'scuse me butting in (and sorry if I should be on a diff' thread, I did look ) but hoping for some insight ?, I'm really new to LV & have just managed to find myself a pre-loved Mono' Boulogne .. she's in pretty good condition for her age, but, there is some peeling (though not sticky, I'm pleased to say) to the interior pocket - I knew about (and expected as have been doing some "homework" on LV !) it & can "live" with it but just wondered if the more expert LV folks had any advice on "making it better" ?? can the interiors be "softened" again & if so, what's best to do it ?
Huge thanks for reading xx's Holls (from the Mulberry - side !!!)

Welcome! Is there a lot of peeling? You can probably have the pocket re-lined by LV but I'm not sure how much that would cost. I had a pre-loved Petit Bucket and the interior had some peeling but it didn't really bother me and it wasn't "bad" enough for me to want to get it repaired. You can probably search the "Repairs" thread to see if you can find a quote there.
As long as it's not sticky, it shouldn't affect your things. HTH!!

Thank you so much LVLoveAffair .. nope, not a lot of peeling, def' don't think it warrants an LV repair trip ( I was lucky to get her for a decent price as I really just needed an "every day" bag - have been using my "fairly new to me & totally beloved now" Boulogne Black Multi-Mono but though I'd rather not wear her every day, I love the style .. it's everything I need in a bag ) - I shall check out the repairs thread (thank you) & I suspect I shall be "around" more often as I find myself being more & more "drawn" to LV (oh dear !!!) xx's Holls

(forgot to say, decided the Boulogne needed a slightly longer strap as I wear bags x-body a lot .. US Ebay seller ValueBeltsPlus custom made me one (9 inches, 5 holes .. it's perfect), £16.00 incl postage to UK, arrived within a week .. just in case anyone else needs something like it xx)
