Me too. I'm waiting for mine as well. When does your CA quote you re: timing? Mine says middle of March! And in the meantime, this is when I'm doubting my purchase.
You won't regret ordering it. It's super cute! When is yours coming?
I ordered it without knowing how does the lining look like, the red pumpkin lining is a bonus to me
My CA told me the lead time is 2-3 months , I ordered on Dec6 6, and the status is still ‘pending validation’

The waiting time of 2-3 months is way too long. If you pre-ordered on the 6th of Dec, then they should have delivered it to you on or around the release date. I made the payment on the 20th of Dec, and my nano speedy was posted on the release date which was last Friday.

@BULL gave an explanation many pages ago. Searching on mobile is too cumbersome on this site but you can find it under his name if you search this thread.
Saw his post before. I’m more interested in the nitty gritty process, like specific materials. Kusama painted the original trunk with acrylic. Did she use gesso/primer, I don’t know. I doubt LV would have used gesso and acrylic paint, since it will eventually flake over time. It works for the trunks, somewhat, because they’re hard sided. Painted trunks will eventually flake, but they’ll last longer than painted malleable canvas.

Did LV formulate a new medium/paint that they can paint/print onto canvas? That could explain a high markup, if they had to go through the trouble of researching materials and/or formulating a new one specific to their requirements.

Haven’t seen this collection in person yet, but based on photos, especially close ups, the shine of the Painted Dots is more than the average acrylic paint. High gloss acrylic exists, but the texture is also fairly thick… thick enough that if it were acrylic paint, it could run the risk of cracking and flaking off easily.

The shine and texture of the Painted Dots reminds me of latex paint. Latex is not as durable as acrylic, so I doubt LV would have used ”regular” latex paint. Enamel paints (car paints) can have similar shine, but I don’t think they can be used on malleable surfaces, plus fully curing them takes a LONG time (unless you use high heat, but the temp needed would most likely ruin/burn the canvas).

It’s also possible that whatever coating LV uses for their canvases, they added pigments to it, to make the “paint.” This would be the most ideal solution, since it would most likely yield a high chance of materials “bonding,” but pigments can greatly alter the overall product and its performance. This method would require lots of r&d too.

Would be better for me to see it in person and touch/feel it, to get a better guess of what’s possibly going on. All I can really tell is that it was made to look like something with high plastic content. Personally, I don’t think it looks anything like acrylic paint, or any paint. The texture isn’t right. It looks more like polyurethane that was made separately and bonded to the canvas.

Hi all,

Long, long time lurker first time poster! Have always been an LV girlie, my first bag was the mini papillon when it was all the rage in my teens! Have collected ever since and have had a YK pochette tucked away from the first collab that I’ve worn just a handful of times. With this new collection I was inspired to pull it out and it’s been so nice to feel the joy of having collected thoughtfully and purposefully. The pochette was a gift from my late mom who passed from colon cancer last year, so this weekend (in honor of her birthday yesterday, a treat to myself) I stopped into the store and got a matching bandeau which an exceedingly kind team of SAs helped me tie on. Had to share, I love the look of it so much! Chain is an add on from Amazon lol! I also have the red/white card holder on the way. Loved the On the Go PM but really wish the sac plat had been more widely available, that would have been a sure yes for me!

This community has always brought me such joy, it’s nice to see people who share the same passion for daily beauty and aesthetic pleasures through luxury. Looking forward to sharing more of my collection and being an active participant round these parts moving forward!
