SORRY! That could all have come across as horribly patronising, which was not my intent. Apologies if it did, and to anyone who was offended.
Don't be daft! I thought what you said was very sweet, and yes, it is good to understand more. The Military is a complex machine.

I love seeing Jonny in the company of other military men, where he's obviously most relaxed in an environment he knows best. I love seeing them salute eachother.

“I wonder if the Royal Regiment of Scotland provided a new uniform, from head to toe, for the London Coronation.”

If you’re in the UK and/or have access to the bbc Iplayer then I highly recommend this programme - Coronation Tailors: Fit for a

If I remember correctly, it’s one family run tailoring business who are responsible for the armed forces uniforms. Granted it’s a massive factory with hundreds of workers but it’s impressive nonetheless.

They have the original, hand drawn uniforms from the first tailor of the family who I believe had worked for Russian royals or something.

This doc was so enlightening!!!!!!!! The family business makes every single ceremonial uniform for the UK Military and made hundreds of new ones with the CRIII cypher and crown on for the Coronation .....AND THE FACTORY IS NOT FAR FROM ME IN TOTTENHAM !!!!!!! Amazing!

Well worth watching if you can.

A lot of people on other sites are talking about the State visit to France and the will he or won’t J be there. So I looked through the photos of the State visit to Germany and this is one of my all time favourites of him. Standing tall and calm watching, waiting, getting rained on with that smile on his face.

I really hope he will be there as the Jonny drought is almost unbearable!

Jonny did the same thing during the May Coronation. Video footage of the Coronation shows him standing in the rain, away from the canopy, so the King and Queen could remain dry as they prepared to enter their carriage. It appeares that he remained standing in the rain after the carriage departed, to allow Royal party members to shelter under the canopy. While it was a celebratory day for the King and Queen, it is a shame that a Royal photographer was unable to capture a photograph of that moment of demonstrated excellence in duty and respect.

RomeGirl helped us understand some things about the aiguillette that Jonny wears. I have been looking for photos of Jonny with a clear closeup view of them but they are hard to find and I have not had any success. I was hoping to spot the Royal Cypher. This photo of Jonny shows some sort of metal work engraving on the cone-shaped tips but I can't tell what it is. Could it be the King's Royal Cypher, or a symbol for Charles as PoW, or just decorative engraving?

I read somewhere that the aiguillette is a "signal" meaning that when the Sovereign's Equerry asks or instructs someone to do something, they are speaking on behalf of the Sovereign.

I wonder how Jonny keeps all of the aiguillette's ropes and cords in place so they don't slide around on his shoulder. It also seems they could get in the way of doing things. Jonny and the other Equerries must be experts at managing all of that by now.

I love the video footage of Jonny nervously straightening his Aguillette on arriving at St.Paul's Cathedral for Her Late Majesty's Platinum Jubilee Service of Thanksgiving in June 22.
