Low, Medium, or High Settings??

Which is why Cut was my number one consideration when DF went diamond and ring hunting.

My setting is between medium and high. I like it this way. The culet is barely visible. It's a peg set head and will make upgrading easier, without having to change my setting...although my latest upgrade was just a year ago, I must not say a word....

This is mine.... low to an extreme!! But I am a super klutz, plus I wear gloves every day at work. You wouldn't think it would be very sparkly.... but Cartier diamonds are just perfection, and in the right light it's like a thousand rainbows. Just gorgeous.

I would prefer a medium setting. A female friend who is very into jewelry once told me she thinks high settings are "cheating" to make the diamond look bigger. I can't say I agree with her, exactly, but there are rings that seem too high for my taste.

i know someone who did exactly that- had her diamond re-set to look larger than it was. the thing is, once someone looks at the ring, it is very obvious what was done.

i wouldn't rec. it.

I think mine's medium high, It's set 6 prong tiffany style - The prongs are the exact length they need to be to display the entire stone - you can not see under the botton tip when you look through the prongs. I don't think my stone could've been set any lower & it's definitely not set to make it appear bigger.

At 1st, I didn't know if I'd like it set this high but I love it. My original ring head had very thin platinum prongs, one prong tip twisted & had to be fixed, one tip broke off! I had the entire head replaced with a much sturdier, thicker, but not higher 6 prong head. If you do get a higher setting make sure it can take some bumps. I've had no problems since having the weaker head replaced.

My next one will probably low and bezel-set. When the children are older, I'll switch to something with claw prongs.

So I finally got around to editing and watermarking some of my pictures.... the DF would laugh at me if he saw me trying to get this shots. LOL

Also, on that last shot, I finally figured out how to change the opacity of the letters... hahaha!
