Oh, perhaps you are right. LV canvas bags are indestructible. I only owned 2 types of lv Leather which are the epi leather and vernis leather, they are indestructible too. That could be the reason why i have that deep impression that Lv are indestructible. Never thought of getting other leather bags from Lv, so can't comment on their quality at all. But personally, I would not spent too much money on LV as in my own opinion, i find the brand name itself less prestigious than Hermes. Just like i will not spend $5k on a coach bag, even if that coach bag is made of exotic leather.

I am just wondering if the real LV fans who own many lv bags compared and agreed on the quality of Lv, or perhaps it is just based my own invaluable experience.

I guess your question really is, why anyone want to drop that much money on LV and not "upgrade" themselves to more prestigious brand such as Hermes since you mention you won't buy coach because of its brand. I guess it really depends on how you view a bag or anything that attach to a brand. Maybe you carry a Hermes due to it's name and give you the superiority that's why you won't spend that much on LV or coach because you think the brand name is not as prestigious. But many TPF members I know carry what they love. They love LV's quality and design not it's name hence they don't feel LV is less prestigious than any other brand. Same here, I buy bags that makes me happy and I know things that is pretty and functional and holding up well makes me happy, I don't care LV is the "secretary brand in China" or anything like that. I don't feel I am special when I carry my Hermes bags or less special when I carry my LV. And the fact is, I actually got more compliments when I carry my capucines than all my other more expensive Hermes bags. I don't let the bag I carry represent who I am.

True to a great extent that the brand does matter to me. Hence as long as i can afford hermes, I will go for hermes despite the fact that I believed that LV quality might be better, and LV is definitely more value for money. However, the biggest point that i want to bring across in my post is LV bags can give u the best quality for the LOWEST price, it is value for money, so it has nothing to do with prestige or not. So it's not relevant on whether i choose name over quality or not, I am not trying to convey the message which brand is more prestigious or if i am choosing name over quality, but rather is I see LV value for money since even if you are tight on budget, u can still afford lv comfortably spending the lowest buck for the highest quality, which brand beats that? I doubt any. Coach can be cheaper , but the quality pales too much in comparison. If one day I am hard on cash that I need to sell all my bags, I will turn to LV for it's lower range models like speedy or neverfull.

I think the point here is that perhaps your lifestyle and consumer mentality is more aligned to Hermes.

The way LV online store setup proves that they are trying to mass produce and heighten their sale to meet the mass population's demand. Not trying to be exclusive and hard to obtain. Not trying to upsale and making people feel it is a hunting game to get the color combination that is hard to come by. No need to wait for months just to get a handbag.

All this, is opposite of Hermes.

So you are not the main target consumer of LV. Instead you are the target consumer of Hermes.

To be honest, this is just marketing.

After all, money can be used to buy what you love, a bag, a wallet, a hierarchy, social status ...

In regards to value for money, I believe this thing beats everything. Durable, washable, indestructible, $5 each.... ImageUploadedByPurseForum1457442775.912403.jpg

God forbid you lose everything and have to turn to LV! :roflmfao:

I prefer LV even though I can afford the "more prestigious brands". I buy what I love and I love LV. Their bags work for me. I prefer the Empreinte line above all others but I do have canvas and Vernis too.

Sorry, but I don't see the purpose of this thread!
Does the OP want to tell us, that you get most for your money when buying LV? It's the best quality for the lowest prize. But the the problem is that it's not prestigious enough.
Am I right???
Better buy an expensive lower quality bag with the right name on it!
:coolio:

I don't suspect anyone on the LV forum will share this same 'feeling'. This shall be interesting.
And since when is chanel and Hermes more "prestigious? " Maybe I'm missing something?

I'm a bit confused myself and the feeling is definitely not mutual on my end so I'm gonna exit stage left while proudly toting my "cheap" Neverfull.

I think the OP would be surprised to know that most people here aren't "settling" for LV! In a reverse manner from the stereotypical LV newbie, after collecting for 12 years, I just bought a "starter" neverfull and am considering a "starter" speedy B.

Do what makes you happy. I don't feel Louis Vuitton is settling by any means for most of us regular folks (have you seen what most people carry? lol). God bless if your financial status allows you to indulge in the more "prestigious" brands. Hopefully that never changes. :)

I have to agree LV does have a great resale value even after years of wear it is great ! I have bought Bottega , Chloe , Prada , Gucci and even Chanel ! Out of all these bags Chanel and LV hold the best value ! Chloe and Bottega don't hold much value at all in the resale market and I find both of these brand to be made very well .. I guess the aren't as popular as LV ! I love LV and I find them to be made great depends on the price point ! The starter bags are not holding up like they used too unfortunately I hope that changes .. I still love LV and after owing many different brands LV is still my favorite ! I never have owned a Hermes bag but I'm not into paying 10,000 plus for a bag that looks like my grandmother would wear ! Not my style I aslo would feel guilty to spend that much on a bag ... That's just me not knocking any ladies that love them to each their own ! Buy what you love and enjoy them ;)

I have to agree I love my speedy B starter bag ! I'm not settling either just enjoy wearing it :) after all even a starter bag is over well over 1000 closer to 1500 so I don't consider that settling ! Ugh come on .. I don't consider them cheap either !
