I was a LV fan many years ago. As time passes, my financial status improved and allow me to indulge in more prestigious brands like Bottega, Chanel and Hermes. As a result, I sold off my LV bags one by one and m left with only 1 LV bag, the regular denim pleaty. I sort of regrets selling of some of my LV bags. Looking back now, after owning various brands, I conclude in my own opinion That LV bags are the most value for money. They have the best quality and most durable at the lowest price tag while maintaining the luxury status. I never had to baby any LV bags as much as i do to other bags. So affordable and durable. I kind of miss Louis vuitton, even though i may not be buying again.

Anybody feels the same?

So you're comparing the leather bags of these "prestiges brands" to the Classic Canvas lines of Louis Vuitton? Or did you include their diverse range of amazing leather bags as well as their Haute maroquinerie bags when making your opinion? Or are they still too lowly priced in general?

Not sure what type of responses you'll get to this thread, but it will be interesting.

I don't suspect anyone on the LV forum will share this same 'feeling'. This shall be interesting.
And since when is chanel and Hermes more "prestigious? " Maybe I'm missing something?

JMHO, and I may be going out on a limb here... but this is the Louis Vuitton forum so I would guess that most here do not share your sentiment. ;)

Haha, I see u focusing on my last statement. My main point is louis vuitton is the most value for money bag out of all brands, hermes and chanel are too expensive and the quality is not up to mark, especially Chanel. I found many quality issuesv with Chanel. So far my hermes bags are holding well, but m not sure if the bags quality are really worth every cents of the high price tag.

just out of curiosity why at the very end you say " i may not be buying again"

I see myself reaching out to hermes and bottega more than louis vuitton. However, there is still a possibility that i will buy another lv if the design call out to me.

Your not missing it that much then. There are too many LV calling out to me at the moment and I will be buying another very soon hopefully!

Oh, perhaps you are right. LV canvas bags are indestructible. I only owned 2 types of lv Leather which are the epi leather and vernis leather, they are indestructible too. That could be the reason why i have that deep impression that Lv are indestructible. Never thought of getting other leather bags from Lv, so can't comment on their quality at all. But personally, I would not spent too much money on LV as in my own opinion, i find the brand name itself less prestigious than Hermes. Just like i will not spend $5k on a coach bag, even if that coach bag is made of exotic leather.

I am just wondering if the real LV fans who own many lv bags compared and agreed on the quality of Lv, or perhaps it is just based my own invaluable experience.

I never think that LV canvas good or luxury goods in general aren't that prestigious. But don't get me wrong, they make design that are sharp and look dashing; look luxurious. But I think prestigious is over rated. Just like Cartier love ring/bracelet. I'm just saying I feel sometime we make too much of big deal than what they are.

Interesting, when I carry my capucines mm to Hermes store actually my SA is very pleased with LV's design and leather quality. I compared the leather condition with LV soft lockit and Hermes bolide and how both holding up, I found them both holding up the same although I use soft lockit much more than bolide. I am pleased with LV's leather quality overall especially when a soft lockit is much more affordable than a bolide. I don't like Chanel bags somehow after seeing how high maintenance they are so I never own one and I reach out of my LV and Hermes comfort zone recently to tried a Givenchy leather bag. I have to say I am disappointed, I guess once you get used to Hermes leathers other brands' leather don't feel as durable at all, but not the case of LV leather. I own LV's capucines, soft lockit, SC and even mahina leather bag, all those leather quality pleased me and especially when they price tags are much lower than Hermes.

Hmmm, ok thanks for the feedback, looks like LVs quality goes beyond their canvas line! Amazing!

So even if you found Louis's leather to be better quality than Hermes you still wouldn't buy one because the brand name is not prestigious enough IYO. So for you it has nothing to do with the quality of the product it is the association and importance you place on the name of the brand. Just trying to clarify your point.
