I'm grateful and I don't ever complain about taxes on purchases or income in Canada as I know where the money goes, and believe me I pay lots of taxes! I dont think we have lower wages here compared to the US though as I have lived worked there before.
This issue has nothing to do with taxes, the issue is the 4 increases by LV in less than a year for Canadians.
As for the dollar being on par, I don't think I have ever seen a decrease when we're on par...

I was just looking at prices on the Canadian site. The Eva is over a grand. The Neverfull is approaching 2 grand. It's offensive. The quality isn't there anymore. And really, canvas isn't worth that much. I'm going to hug and squeeze all my bags and promise them I'll never sell them. :-)

Just wanted to add that it isn't just LV that has gone up in price due to the dollar. Even food has gone up. A couple years ago bananas were 58cents/pound. now it is at 77cents/pound. It sounds small but a lot of things go up in price across the board. When it comes down to it, importing anything into Canada is expensive and it really depends on the strength of the economy and the Canadian dollar.

I try not to be a Debbie Downer and be grateful for what we have. Yes, we have lower wages and higher taxes compared to US (and thus lower buying power), but at the same time when you have a family member who gets to stay in the hospital for a few months with life saving surgery in ICU and paid by taxes, it really is worth it.

Just gotta take the prices changes as it comes and deal with it. Like real estate, the canadian dollar has always gone up and down in cycles so take advtange of the next cycle when it gets closer to par.

yeah don't get me wrong, Canada is a great place to live with free health care and a social welfare system etc (which doesn't exist in US). Just wanted to note that if I still lived there I think LV would feel very expensive and I think I would be annoyed by the constant price increases, so would think twice about buying. The increases seem bad enough here in Europe! Basically I just feel for my LV loving Canadian friends, but then you have Tim Hortons so I don't feel that bad:p

I've been collecting LV for a long time and yes we have had decreases and lots of times it has been cheaper to buy LV here than in the US as well as the US getting price increases when we didn't.
It suck for us right now with our dollar but this hasn't always been the case and it won't be forever

Good to know from a long time Canadian collector- it makes the sting a wee bit less. 😊

It's nice to know that there's people on this forum that agree with my perspective. It's true. We are all speaking the truth.

I don't know anyone who'll be pleased with price increases be they food, housing, bills or designer. Whether it's want or need, it does involve our pennies. (Except for celebs like the K family in which case money is no prob.) I dislike price increases with a passion. And x4 per year is just:tdown:

For all the Canadians who are upset over the price increase, I did some math to count for the conversion rates:

Emilie Wallet:
$480 USD = $663 CAD
The current price for the Emilie in CAD = $590

Six-Key Holder:
$250 USD = $345 CAD
The current price for Six-Key in CAD = $310

Speedy B 25:
$1370 USD = $1892 CAD
The current price for Speedy B 25 in CAD = $1780

The ONLY piece I looked at while doing these conversions that appeared to be the same price in either country was the Pochette Accessoires NM:
$500 USD = $690 CAD
The current price in CAD = $690

It seems to me that these price increases that are hitting the Canadian market are to catch up with what the rest of the international market rates.
